I couldn’t see myself handling a long-distance relationship well and thought that I would never be willing to leave home and my life for another person. Vatican City (image courtesy of Christopher Czermak/Unsplash) Colosseum in Rome (image courtesy of Matthew Schwartz/Unsplash) Basilica di San Vitale, one of eight UNESCO World Heritage sites in Ravenna. It's no wonder that foreigners are drawn to this laid-back way of life, finding solace in the unhurried rhythm of Italian living. It is well known that Italians are passionate, proud, temperamental, jealous, possessive, colorful, spontaneous, charming, sensual, irresistible, impatient, sensitive, macho, noisy, warm-hearted, excellent cooks, stylish, bon viveurs and football fanatics.

There were rooftop views over Naples Bay to the looming Mount Vesuvius, the perfect place to finish off the bottle of vino rosso they force you to drink at dinnertime. But if you really want to learn to speak Italian and create your own phrases of love then it’s a good idea to use a structured program like Rocket Italian. For those who have already been to Italy’s iconic cities one or more times, what do you suggest next? With the budget airlines so prolific nowadays, you can always start in Rome for 3-4 nights, then fly to the next destination set, even if it's all the way across Europe. I’ve only visited Rome and its surrounding and a part of Sardinia, but I did fall in love with Italy the moment I stepped down from the plane on my first visit there 10 years ago.

These sites are not only visually stunning but also serve as a testament to Italy's rich cultural and natural heritage. If you can visit only a major city or two, I recommend hiring a local, English-speaking guide (check the Internet) who can provide an overview and background.Italy's artistic heritage, warm hospitality, vibrant cities, and captivating festivals all contribute to its allure for foreigners. Places where you can dive into history, appreciate the architecture and feel like traveling to the past. I really liked Spain particularly Andalusia area with the Moorish influence - Cordoba, Seville, Granada. The beautiful surroundings of the lake and Sirmione’s lovely castle already make visiting the spa here pretty special; it’s difficult to think of a more idyllic day than lazing around in the thermal baths while you look out across Lake Garda. While posts above have suggested other countries you may like based on what you liked in Italy, be aware that only Italy is Italy.

Walking through the ancient cities, there were moments when I could almost see them differently, in the same way, perhaps, as they looked two thousand years ago, full of colors and people and vibrancy. After the bus pulled away from my planned stop, it quickly made its way out of the center of the bustling city and into the quieter suburbs. There are a few clichés about Italy that seem to be accepted worldwide: Pasta is eaten all day, every day; wine flows in copious amounts; the country is home to the most exquisite architecture and last, but not least, Italian men are Casanovas from cradle to grave. Rome, with its ancient ruins and captivating history, is a city that never fails to captivate visitors. The country’s capital city of Rome boasts beautiful art and intricately sculpted fountains seemingly in every square or corner. In the good old days, the Squire was rather good, being such a tall big guy he had numerous learners banging into him, a bit like having a wall on the ski field 🙂 Amazing photos of Italy!
