The heel is clunky though due to some significant posterior flare, so those who have a shorter stride/higher cadence or land farther forward may like this shoe more. The Adidas Adistar CS was a surprise to see from Adidas, given the Adistar was already inherently stable. First, Repetitor makes up the majority of the shoe, in my pair it's the white section, and it is a pretty soft and slightly bouncy foam. Such a rigid heel counter held our ankles firmly in place and the extension of firm foam at the back definitely helped with support.

Adidas went the opposite way, creating a firmer heel that combined with the elevated midsole provides stable landings. It is a model that will help you maintain comfort, smoothness in the tread and stride pace in your long distance sessions. The upper looks somewhat retro if you ask us and is made of yarn that contains at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic and 50% recycled polyester. His work is regularly featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, BBC and the likes as well as peer-reviewed journals. Completing this premium choice in men’s running shoes, an internal wrap provides a locked-in feel, whist a REPETITOR+ outer support frame ensures feet remain supported.

Repetitor and Repetitor + are Adidas’ latest midsole foams and they both feel like firm, old-fashioned EVA. There is no give whatsoever to Repetitor+, so much so that it might as well be a weightlifting shoe in that section. Like other Adidas running shoes with Continental rubber, the Adidas Adistar's traction is best-in-class. They have a dual-density REPETITOR+ midsole that stabilizes every heel strike and supports smooth transitions from one step to the next. Despite the slow improvements in inherent stability across most footwear (but not all), there have been a decrease in the number of true stability shoes.adidas went and made themselves a Bondi'' was my initial takeaway, and dozens of hours later, that first impression still holds up. Jeff has finished several ultra marathons, from 50K up to 50 miles, and is still debating if he wants to go down that road again.

The upper feels slightly warm because of all the padding and the overlays but there are holes on the top of the toe box for extra ventilation. Our views are based on our extensive history in the footwear industry and years testing and developing footwear. The posterior flare is not completely bad as it is a common thing I prescribe for older individuals who tend to lose their balance in the posterior direction while walking or standing. In addition, all data is securely transmitted using SSL encoding and we do not save any bank or credit card information. Often dubbed as Adidas' version of the Hoka Bondi, we think that the Adidas Adistar is a max-cushioned running shoe that's a no-brainer for long easy days.

It has a padded tongue which is not gusseted but there’s no tongue slide because the tongue is wide and thick enough to hold it in place. We will advise you what to do and refund you, including the original postage charges, within 30 days. On the outsole, there’s a lot of grippy Continental rubber on the medial and lateral sides with a deep, decoupled groove right in the middle which helps centre the weight and smoothens transitions. Increasing this rate has been shown to decrease foot inclination angle, which may be more important than foot strike in regards to impact loading (Allen et al.

is Continental branded with rubber in those areas with greater contact with the surface to provide that durability so necessary and indispensable in all training shoes. The dual-density midsole combines lightweight foam for springy cushioning with a firm compound that cradles the heel. Well padded, not too rigid but enough to prevent heel slippage, and it never irritated our Achilles. employs the REPETITOR+ foam which has a firmer component in the heel and a softer one in the rest of the midsole. We can see a great benefit here for runners with moderate overpronation who don't want to get a stability shoe. The Glycerin is Brooks’ long time big cushion trainer, and the 19 is one of the best they’ve ever made - but worn against the Adistar it feels only slightly cushioned. The Adidas Adistar is a max cushion, structured shoe for those who want rearfoot guidance, a firm heel, a soft forefoot in a shoe best for easy and long runs. Jeff is the token slow runner of the RTR lineup, and as such his viewpoints on shoe and gear can differ from those who routinely finish marathons in three hours or less.
