Description

Connecting to my desktop WiFi with the Router in the same room, I was able to achieve throughput speeds of 834Mbits/sec, which is consistent with other similarly specced WiFi 6 devices I have used, including the Unifi 6 Lite and Netgear Nighthawk MK63. First of all, a reminder than the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX hasn’t had a UK launch, and there doesn’t seem to be any immediate plans to launch it. Which limits the appeal since most of my readers are in the UK. However, it is not a huge problem dealing with two-pin plugs.

As you might have guessed, this is therefore essentially the same as the FRITZ!Box 7530 but with significantly improved WiFi. The clearest difference between upgrading from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6 is coverage improvement. You can see from the results that it’s possible to get usable speeds on Wi-Fi 6 client devices much further away, such as 69Mbps in the garden. Wi-Fi 6 test The only issue we encountered was that some of the processes inevitably lead to updates and reboots of the router. When these reboots occur, the wizard stops working because the phone can connect to another WiFi service. Our only reservation about all these features is that if you don’t need them, you might be paying more than you need to. It's not bad, by any means, but middling Wi-Fi performance puts all those additional extras (and the 7590's pretty high price) into perspective if you're not going to take full advantage of them. The Router needs 12v 1.5amps, whereas the power lead I have for the AVM FRITZ!Box 7590 is 12v 2.5amps. The random plugs I have around the house that are 12v 1.5amps didn’t fit this Router. Features / Mesh The complexity of this device and the flexibility of its Fritz!OS Linux-based operating system would align well with users that like to get the most out of their equipment. However, for non-technical customers, it might be a little overwhelming. Performance I get rid of ADSL years ago when Virgin became available on my street, so I had to set this up using the existing Internet option where the LAN 1 port becomes your WAN port.

This AVM router has a lot of really interesting features, it is very similar to the AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 model that we have thoroughly analyzed in RedesZone, however, it has some fundamental differences that we will explain later. This AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 AX model is an ideal model for your home if you want to have high-performance WiFi 6 connectivity anywhere. Wireless features Two USB 3.0 ports allow the router to become a NAS distribution system if storage is attached, connect a USB printer to the network, or offer a 4G/5G fail-over solution using a mobile network services dongle. This router has Smart Connect or band-steering, that is, we will have an SSID shared by the two frequency bands, and the router will be in charge of placing us in the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band, depending on the coverage received by the WiFi client. It also supports WiFi roaming if we configure a WiFi Mesh network with the manufacturer’s devices, the roaming makes use of the 802.11k / v standards so that the transition between the Mesh router and the Mesh repeaters is totally transparent. What I can comment on is the speeds detected using the WiFi Speed Test Pro app on a pair of Android phones – a Huawei Mate 10 Pro and a Like a lot of routers, the Fritz!Box 7530 AX will automatically prioritise the strongest, most stable connection available, even if it’s not the fastest. This means in practical terms, the further you move away from the 7530 AX, the sooner you’ll be bumped off of the faster 5GHz and moved on to the slower (but more readily available) 2.4GHz band.

How easy is it to set up the FritzBox 7530 AX? Setting up the Fritz!Box 7530 AX is straightforward and easy. Simply connect the router to your internet modem, plug in the power, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process. The router also comes with an app that can be used for setup and configuration. Media server makes music, pictures and movies available to devices in the home network (DLNA/UPnP AV) Can I use the Fritz!Box 7530 AX with fiber optic internet? Yes, the Fritz!Box 7530 AX supports fiber optic internet, and its built-in modem allows for easy setup.
