A few days later, Simon staggered into Base Camp, exhausted and frost-bitten, to tell their non-climbing companion that Joe was dead. Some may read this as a book of one of the pivotal survivors, sharing stories of rock n roll's excess and former supremacy. About the Author: Founding member Geezer Butler is the longtime bassist and primary lyricist for the groundbreaking heavy-metal band Black Sabbath. Having read Ozzy's hilarious bio and Tony's more chronological approach it's good to read Geezer's take on life growing up in Aston and Sabbath's against the odds slog to fame and on to becoming the Masters of Reality.

I must give Simpson credit for never downplaying the difficulties Yates faced, and for confessing, that having found himself in Yates’ position, he too would have cut the rope.

Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you.

They remained in this position for some time (Yates estimates in excess of one and a half hours [2]), until it was obvious to Yates that his unbelayed stance, merely a seat dug into the near vertical snow slope without any fixed anchors, was gradually collapsing as he began to be pulled downwards in 'small jerky steps'. As a fumbling bassist about a decade younger than Geezer, from a similar ethnic and religious background, his explorations of how his early faith, later skepticism, precocious vegetarianism -- long before it was fashionable-- and the expected details of life with Ozzy, Tony, Bill and seemingly dozens of bandmates all kept my interest. To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. Joe Simpson and Simon Yates were young, fearless and a little too careless when they attempted to climb a 21,000 peak in the Andes. From the humble beginnings to all the turmoil and everything you’d expect from one of the most influential bands of all time.

Sebuah perjuangan hebat dan habis-habisan dari seorang Joe Simpson dalam upaya mempertahankan hidupnya dan "penolakan" terhadap maut yang terus mengintainya. When he regained consciousness, he discovered that the rope had been cut and concluded that Yates had probably survived but would presume that he was dead.

Like Geezer’s bass lines and the story of Black Sabbath themselves, Into the Void is original, dramatic and one hell of a ride.

Picture this: an incredible panoramic view of a rugged mountain range and the camera slowly pans to the point where you see two tiny black specs climbing a 21,000 foot, shear-faced mountain wall. Featuring Geezer’s candid reflections on his working-class childhood in Luftwaffe-battered Birmingham, his almost-life as an accountant and his fascination with horror, religion and the occult, Into the Void reveals the softer side of the heavy-metal legend, while holding nothing back. When he reached the glacier he could see from below the position in which Simpson had been hanging and observed the large crevasse immediately underneath. The adventure begins in the Peruvian Andes, where Simpson and his climbing partner Simon Yates attempt to scale the ice shrouded slopes of Siula Grande. It shows the band appearing in a tableau of stiffness, with an unforgettably unique detail: drummer Bill Ward, donned in his girlfriend's red tights. Because the difficult terrain and the poor weather conditions prevented rapid progress with the descent, the pair had to spend a night in a snow hole on the ridge. The slope that Simpson was being lowered down became gradually steeper and eventually he went over the edge of a cliff and was hanging free with his whole weight on the rope.
