These sturdy containers are also pretty heavy. While we found they are great for home use, they might be too heavy for taking meals on the go. The set performed great on the leak test—spilling not even a drop of water!—but we were disappointed during the freshness test when peeled and pitted avocados were noticeably brown after three days. The containers were easy to clean, didn’t retain odors or stains, and were of great quality for the price point. First, we conducted a leak test by filling a container with water and sealing it with the included lid. After sealing the lid, we vigorously shook the container for a minute to see if any liquid escaped. Filled with caramel flavor from the plump Medjool dates, it is also rich in fiber and healthy fats from almond butter, chia seeds, and plant-based milk. Filling up with the right amount of healthy nutrients first thing in the morning will boost your energy and prepare you for the day ahead. She tested the Caraway Storage Set in her tiny NYC apartment, using it to store Greek yogurt, beans, tofu, and more.

The cheapest glass to produce is likely all around you: Untreated soda-lime glass is used to make jars, bottles, and cups. If your glass container doesn’t say it’s tempered or strengthened, it’s probably untreated or just regular old glass. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing; for storing food in the fridge or at room temperature, soda-lime glass is fine. It’s when you freeze or heat the glass that you want another option. Meal prepping breakfast can be a lifesaver, especially if you usually run out of the house in the morning but still want to eat healthy food. Most glass food storage containers don't have glass lids but instead use some form of plastic or wood. While most glass is freezer, oven, and microwave safe, it's important to note that many plastic lids are not, so it's essential to consider that when shopping. Glass containers are stain-proof, while plastic tends to stain when storing foods that contain such ingredients as tomato sauce or blueberries.

They also have the option of wood or plastic lids. I've owned several sets for 2 years now, and am extremely happy with how they've held up through freezing, thawing, baking and washing.Overall, we thought these were well worth the price considering the high craftsmanship and sturdy materials. In fact, there was no chipping or breakage when we accidentally dropped a container on a granite countertop. Better for the environment. I think we can all agree that plastic anything is not doing our environment good. Glass meal prep containers, unless they break, are reusable forever. I’ve had some of my glass containers for 8+ years.
