Have now confirmed that no resource files changed with the new October 7th/1.7 firmware, so have updated the tables in the Resources section to reflect this. Also added a reference to detyn's Battery Meter Fix tool to the FAQ on stuff new SF2000 owners can do. Some "unknown" files from the Resources folder identified with taizou's help (thanks!); moved them to the Sounds and Rom Lists sections with details. Only two files left!

The next sequence of bytes is the name of a .zip file in the bin folder, without any path (SF2000's firmware automatically looks for the .zip in a bin subfolder relative to where the .zfb file is stored - thanks .ericgoldstein for the testing!), e.g. gamename.zipYou can swap the battery for a higher-capacity 3500 mAh 18650, which will give you longer playtime (at the cost of longer charging time). If you do decide to replace the battery, make sure you use one with a built-in protection circuit, as the SF2000 has no under-charge protection. Due to the different nature of arcade emulation compared to any of the other systems the SF2000 supports, the ROM layout for the arcade section is different as well. Inside the /ARCADE folder in the root of the microSD card you'll find a bin subfolder, and a bunch of .zfb files. The bin folder contains .zip files with an enforced 8.3 file naming scheme, and they contain the actual ROM data for the FBA emulator. The .zfb files are used to populate the arcade game list when you go into the arcade section on the SF2000's menu, and their file structure is as follows: My main complaint is that they have way too many games on the device for what it will actually play well. These are other files that have been identified, which don't fit into the other categories. Non-Latin characters in the files are encoded in UTF-8. Filename

And any way to remove all of the crap roms from the systems menu and have my own roms show up under FC , SFC, etc? Currently there is a premade executable for Windows, but the code has been written to be platform agnostic so you should be able to run it directly from the python source on Linux or Mac. I also threw these these other rom files on. Some were recognized in the games list but they did not play. Instead of a .IMG file, this archive contains all files from the /bios and /Resources folders. Firmware Only Updated FAQ about custom firmware with latest details. Moved "what can I do" bullet point about custom themes to its own separate FAQ to make it easier to find, and added more details about how to actually install a theme. The "Tahoma" typeface, containing Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Armenian, Hebrew, Arabic and Thai characters These are files that I have not Also note that while you can technically charge the SF2000 while it is powered on, doing so using a charger that supports fast charging or power delivery has a high chance of blowing the charging module IC and killing the device (multiple community reports). For safest charging, use a charger that only supports a maximum output of 5v.

DATAFROG-SF2000-08.03-OS-Files-Only-VANILLA.zip - Only the OS files from the above .IMG file - copy to a newly formatted microSD Powered by an SL4350 processor and 1GB of RAM, it effortlessly handles all those classic games you remember from consoles like the NES, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, and much, much more. Providing quality performance. For previous updates, see this post. Some of the tools listed in this post have not been verified to work fully with the new updates, but on the other hand performance is improved according to reports.

Game saves don't seem to be working for me? Save states are fine, but the built-in save function in games doesn't seem to work? Note that the game-specific key bindings function have been removed from the May 15th firmware onwards. Boot Logo The Resources folder on the microSD card contains all of the resources used by the device's firmware to construct the user interface at runtime. The following tables list the files from various firmware versions (the numbered columns, in approximate mm.dd format for firmwares we don't have official version numbers for, and regular version numbers for the rest) and what they are used for, grouped by broad categories. Resolution and format given are for the latest firmware version only; details may be different for older firmwares. The icons in the firmware columns have the following meanings: I can confirm that this seems to work. Not sure if the file needs to be there permanently, but I left it permanently and it does not cause any problems. Multimedia, Budget Multimedia, Gaming, Budget Gaming, Lightweight Gaming, Business, Budget Office, Workstation, Subnotebooks, Ultrabooks, ChromebooksAdded a section about the default ROMs that come with the SF2000, including a HTML file and a CSV file that have the SHA256/SHA1/MD5/CRC32 hashes for all non-arcade ROMs, and details about which ROMs match the current No-Intro database. I would say that almost all of the hype is because the Data Frog SF2000 is so incredibly cheap and it can still play games semi-decent.
