Hennessy is a cognac, a type of brandy that’s made from white wine. The spirit undergoes the distillation process twice and is then aged in French barrels. Hennesy (Jas Hennessy & Co.) is a well-known French cognac distiller which has over 250 years of experience in manufacturing world-class cognac. It’s headquartered in Cognac, France, and is the one responsible for supplying roughly 40% of the world’s cognac. V.S.O.P (Very Superior Old Pale) or Reserve signifies a blend of cognac that was aged for at least four years in the cask.Hennessy X.O's intense and deep amber color is a sign of its strength. Its flavors of candied fruit and its subtle and lightly spicy nose create a complete harmony: a mark of its power and roundness. To taste, a smooth, full sensation gives a simultaneously powerful and soft tonality with a hint of cocoa and a warm, fruity presence. The long finish expresses all the complexity of the cognac’s blending and its long ageing process. Hennessy VS– VS is short for Very Special, and it means that the youngest blend is aged for at least 2 years. Later on, in 1987, this group further merged with the luxury clothing brand Louis Vuitton, creating the largest luxury product conglomerate in the world: LVMH. Kilian Hennessy was part of the advisory board of the company until his recent death in 2010 (at the age of 103 years!). Today, Renaud Fillioux de Gironde is the head cellar master at Hennessy; he continues to represent this family tradition. He took over from Yann Fillioux in 2018. Hennessy being one of the world's best cognac brands has won awards in various competitions. Each of its products is of high quality, assembled from the collection of rare "Eaux-de-vie" and uniquely crafted by skilled Master Blenders.

Under his leadership, the company expanded rapidly with a range of products and was passed on to the next generation within the family, until in 1971 Kilian Hennessy created the group Moet Hennessy in a merger with the Champagne producer Moet et Chandon. Created in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy for his circle of close friends, Hennessy X.O was the first “Extra Old” Cognac ever invented and established the category. In 1947, Gérald de Geoffre designed the first Hennessy X.O decanter, whose distinctive form is still familiar to us today. Its silhouette is a tribute to the pyramid-like forms of the grape bunches that give birth to the Cognac eaux-de-vie. Visits take place from Nov 1 to Dec 31, from Monday to Friday (except on public holidays) and from April 1 to Oct 31, 7 days a week (except May 1). Closed from Jan 1 to March 31 (reservations possible from Monday to Friday from 10 to 12 am and from 2 to 4 pm).
