There was a lull in the story as it got kinda repetitive as they were traveling and only so many things can happen 4 times over before it’s boring.

A part of me knew that plot twist was coming, that the ending would be shocking but holy hell I was not prepared for the intensity of it!You are led to believe something and it's proven over and over again but of course it couldn't be that easy right? During her escape she runs into Caelum, another fae marked, and they decide they have a better chance of surviving together than they do apart. i did really enjoy it for the first 40% before it started to fall flat for me, so i’m not sure if i’ll be reading the next book in the series.

I bought the first one as soon as it came out, then didn’t pick it up right away for the same reasons you waited on this one. The ending was by far the best part of the book, so I would like to believe that will set the precedent for book two. The chemistry between Estella and Caelum will ignite the pages with some 🔥🥵🔥 scenes (exhibitionism, praise, breeding - please check triggers) that will have you fanning yourself. You are slowly pealing away at the history and finding out more and more information about the past and how things actually work (rather than what humans implemented into history). Not the best writing either, but the tension between the two of them was enough to make me want to read more.

And this was obviously done to piss off Caelum and have him show everyone in the Resistance that Estrella is his. I truly think theonly reason there were even sexual scenes in this book is because what else would you put in it? So the hero isn't related to Mab by blood only by the political marriage between his dead father and Mab. We’ll have to see how much I want answers when the next book comes out next year but at this point I’m not into it.

The heroine has this annoying habit of trying to die because of things she has no idea of that have been said to her. I was captivated and invested in Estrella's story from the beginning and loved watching her overcome the hardships she is faced with. Both the series have a lot in common, just this series characters are a bit older and the storyline is also vastly different.They both tied in well with each other, though the romance stuck out a lot more to me as there was no big action points until the end. In the beginning I was so angry with what was happening and what this girl had to endure, but it only got more exciting after the Veil fell. His dark eyes glimmered, tiny specks of light shining in the obsidian, like the stars that had become my namesake.
