About this deal

She gives a detailed glimpse into her two careers as a top tennis player and exceptional broadcaster. Frankly, it looks silly now that he’s still talking about a relationship that was never really more than a friendship. This provides a useful foundation to help readers connect with the contents of the chapters that follow. I have always been a huge fan of A Question of Sport, and I was devastated when Sue was forced to leave.

I just happened to be staying in the same Brighton hotel as Hank Marvin and Brian Bennett, then midway through a Shadows tour. This is a remarkable life story of a tennis champion, an award-winning broadcaster, and I enjoyed every minute listening to her incredible life story. In my eyes, Greg was more famous worldwide than Cliff, but the Press had all but ignored our romance. I found the journey to becoming a tennis star really interesting and it is forgotten with her broadcast career what an amazing player she was. We’ve now been together for 34 years and he remains my best friend, my rock, and makes me laugh every day.Sue Barker was also from that era where the circuit was littered with superstars with Billie Jean King, Chris Evett and Martina Navratilova. Coverage of the most important core psychology concepts for students, directly linked to relevant practice contexts. When we arrived at the hotel in Tokyo, there was a telegram from Cliff, wishing me all the best in my matches and hoping to see me again. This text will enable nurses to understand and apply psychology to care, in a compassionate framework. I’m sorry this comes over as a negative review, because on the whole it’s interesting to read of her gumption and professionalism in her sporting and television careers.

Actually I have to get that comment right, Sue's two careers, a tennis career, and a television career. When my previous relationships had ended, we’d talked everything through, about why it wasn’t working or couldn’t work. One day, the late BBC presenter Jill Dando, who was a sort of mentor in the early days of my broadcasting career, asked if I’d mind if she tried to make a go of it with Cliff.Of course I love a tennis biography but was delighted to hear that Sue Barker was releasing one so soon after retiring from Wimbledon coverage. She is clearly immensely proud of her broadcast career and it struck me that it would seem more than her tennis career, but not really surprising given the span of her broadcasting. I have grown up watching Sue Baker on Question of Sport and Wimbledon and I always admired her wit, intelligence and hard work and this book gives an insight into the women behind the camera and has given me a new admiration for her.

I’d imagine she would be fun in the bar with her stories and she definitely would have an opinion on most players and their game. Standing behind him, singing and waving their arms, were the tennis stars Pam Shriver, Liz Smylie, Andrea Jaeger, Virginia Wade, Martina Navratilova, Conchita Martinez and Gigi Fernandez. This book is a real gem as it can enable healthcare practitioners to explore a range of theoretical psychological perspectives in way that is accessible and engaging. This book presents to the reader all that is necessary and interesting about the theories and concepts that underpin humans caring for other humans. During her tennis career she won fifteen WTA singles titles, including a Grand Slam - the French Open in 1976, aged 20.For anyone who is a fan of tennis star Sue or just loved her on a question of sport this is the book for you.

As a former tennis champion and an award-winning broadcaster Sue has brought sporting history into our living rooms for decades. She anchored SPOTY for 19 years, was quizmaster on A Question of Sport for 24 years and fronted coverage of Wimbledon for three decades. The authors approach compassionate care and other concepts in nursing from a psychological perspective, thus supporting what nurses have claimed since Nightingale’s era. When I flew back to London with Cliff and Neil, bizarrely, the snappers were out in force at the airport. It wasn’t my first experience of dating someone well-known — I’d gone out with the golfer Greg Norman in 1978-79, yet never experienced the media frenzy that accompanied Cliff. The week before, I’d met two former members of Cliff’s 1960s backing band, but that hardly seemed relevant.
