No one wants to read a story that is essentially recycled John B/Sarah but not nearly as interesting. Alright, so after reading this in 2023 I have to read it again after just getting a copy of it not an eBook this time, but now I have the paperback version as well as the audiobook just to make sure I can switch between them whenever I have to.

The characters were interesting, but I felt that Kate was just a whiner who never liked anything and never appreciated what she had. Belly is in for an unforgettable summer, just like John B and the rest of the Pogues in Outer Banks. I was interested to see what Sheinmel’s OC Savannah was like and I was not disappointed even though I ended up disliking her for hurting JJ. The story jumps between flashback and the present day, when a sick Kate Lee gets an invitation from Ginger Fowler Sibley for a reunion.We think, though, that we have a good representation of Outer Banks authors and the stories they tell bringing the history of this ribbon of sand to life. excluding not only ALL the female characters, but every character of colour (as far as I'm aware, this story does not include Pope) and ESPECIALLY the WOC is highkey disgusting. He seems to hold particular scorn for the belief that the colonists migrated to the Buxton area, noting that every artifact that had been deemed as proof has been shown to come from a later period. In the midst of this circle enters Paul Sibley, a slightly older, mysteriously handsome and rather exotic architectural student, who is a standout amidst this staid environment, and who overwhelms the narrator as they enter into a relationship that begins in ecstasy and ends with a wound that never heals.
