The Banjo began life as a Kit Kat-style chocolate wafer bar that was only sold in London before reinventing itself as a nationwide product in the 1970s. They were peppermint striped for a double hit of freshness and the best part was, they never left your breath smelling grim like some other treats on this list . As a kid who became a teenager by the end of the decade, this was my time to enjoy a childhood of chocolate. Perfect for encouraging table manners, these probably saw kids lobbing them across the room before eating them! The TV advert featured a cowboy who wanted a Texan bar as his last request (what else could you possibly want? Earlier this year Cadbury announced they would bring back the Dairy Milk Tiffin for good, having previously discontinued the chocolate bar in 1972, and then again – following a revival – in 2003. A Cabana bar was a chocolate bar made by Rowntree’s, the British confectionary company responsible for treats such as the Kit Kat, Aero, Fruit Pastilles and the old favourite, Toffos.This Cadbury’s bar was a mix of chocolate, nougat and caramel It didn’t survive intact once I’d finished with a bar – but the public’s taste must have been altogether more discerning because as a brand Atzec didn’t make it to the end of the decade. Remember the clean-up operation when you'd accidentally rip open the packet and the balls went EVERYWHERE.
