Christie. Κάποια από τα δυνατά σημεία της είναι η συνοπτική πλοκή, το απόκοσμο κλίμα και οι καλοδουλεμένοι χαρακτήρες της. Παρά το μεγάλο σύνολο ηθοποιών, κάθε χαρακτήρας έχει τη δική του στιγμή να λάμψει επιτρέποντάς μας να υποψιαστούμε τα κίνητρά τους και, ταυτόχρονα, να αποκτήσουμε εικόνα της προσωπικότητάς τους. Με όλους τους χαρακτήρες να αλληλλεπιδρούν μεταξύ τους, η χημεία που έχει το καστ στην οθόνη είναι εντυπωσιακή. Καμία ερμηνεία δεν υστερεί των υπόλοιπων. Αλλά αυτή του Jude Hill στον ρόλο του Leopold Ferrier ξεχωρίζει. Ο Leopold είναι μακράν ο πιο αγαπητός και καλογραμμένος χαρακτήρας (πλην του Πουαρό) στην ταινία. Και ο νεαρός Jude Hill κάνει άψογη δουλειά στον ρόλο. Ένας ιδιοφυής, κομψά ντυμένος, νεαρός, με ταπεραμέντο. Ο Branagh στον πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο δείχνει την αφοσίωση και αγάπη που έχει τόσο για τον εμβληματικό ήρωα της Christie όσο και για το ίδιο το είδος του μυστηρίου, φέρνοντας για πρώτη φορά ένα μεγάλο συναισθηματικό βάθος στον χαρακτήρα που μαρτυρά το πονεμένο παρελθόν του. Βέβαια υπάρχει μία ελλιπής ανάπτυξη κάποιων χαρακτήρων, με την σκιαγράφηση μερικών ηρώων να δείχνει απρόσμενα φτωχή. Η κινηματογράφηση είναι ένα άλλο χαρακτηριστικό που ξεχωρίζει, με έξυπνες τεχνικές καδραρίσματος που αποδίδουν την εμπλοκή των χαρακτήρων σε ένα ψυχολογικό παιχνίδι. Χάρη και στην διεύθυνση φωτογραφίας του ελληνικής καταγωγής μόνιμου συνεργάτη του, Haris Zambarloukos, το φιλμ είναι ιδιαίτερα καλοφτιαγμένο με εξαίρετη νυχτερινή φωτογραφία, ενώ το σενάριο του Michael Green κρατά σωστό τέμπο τόσο χρονικά, όσο και ως προς τα μυστικά που σταδιακά αποκαλύπτονται. Εν τέλει, η ταινία ανταποκρίνεται με επιτυχία στις προσδοκίες ενός κλασικού αστυνομικού μυστηρίου. 7.5/10!!

Walt Disney wanted the setting of the film to be Marceline, Missouri which had been his childhood hometown.
