Another of my Christmas presents was the Logitech G920 racing wheel. I love Forza Horizon 5 with the Logitech G920 racing wheel. It’s a decent upgrade over my old Logitech G27 racing wheel. The game and new wheel are the perfect combination. Found and fixed an issue with the brake pedal. Now I just need more time to play between just finishing Halo and starting Death Stranding (more on that weird game in a later post). Racing in Forza Horizon 5 with my Logitech G920 Wheel Setup A fair bit of time and practice is needed to find the best brake sensitivity level and learn the new brake pressures and braking points. With the TrueBrake mod, you can achieve better control over braking inputs. The progressive resistance allows for more precise modulation, making it easier to apply the desired amount of braking force consistently.

I only use Project Cars 2 currently. So I calibrated the pedals in game and tried the modified brake out. Although Logitech does not make a handbrake for their racing wheels, you can use any of the three USB handbrakes, Fanatec ClubSport, Thrustmaster TSS or Aiologs handbrake with the DriveHub to make them work with Logitech G29 on PS4. Handbrake for Thrustmaster T300 and T-GT on PS4 Installation was fairly easy - there are a large number of screws to remove which takes time, then you have to remove the pedal assembly and detach the existing wires from the brake pedal. Once that's done you choose one of the two options for pedal travel before the brake engages and install the TrueBrake replacement into the pedal. The connecting wires can then be attached to the new component and then everything can be re-assembled.

USB Handbrake Compatibility Guide

Worth the wait and the cost. It’s transformed my old G27 pedals. I fitted the Truebrake, then put the old brake spring into the clutch, making it feel more like a proper car clutch; then I moved the clutch spring into the accelerator, which improved the stiffness. over the original. All three handbrakes, Fanatec ClubSport, Thrustmaster TSS and Aiologs handbrake work perfectly with Logitech racing wheels on PC when connected via USB. You can use pretty much any USB handbrake with Logitech wheels on PC. Handbrake for Thrustmaster Racing Wheels on PC Although Logitech does not make a handbrake for their racing wheels, you can use any of the three USB handbrakes – Fanatec ClubSport, Thrustmaster TSS or Aiologs handbrake with the DriveHub to make them work with Logitech G920 on Xbox One. Handbrake for Thrustmaster TX and TS-XW on Xbox One Changing to True Brake solved both issues. I am now lapping with very constant pace. I am very far from ACC record laps, (but for that no mod or gear is going to help LOL) but I am now enjoying the racing. I can be consistent, and I can try to push always a bit more to find the limit. If you do not have the budget, or the space to install a full size rig with expensive sets, this is a no brainer. I put some scales against a wall to test my braking force with my office chair and got about 25kg or 30kg at a push, so went with the green spring, which seems to have been the right answer (I can push hard but don’t need to push my chair over to reach 100%). Having the kg rating on the spring options really helped there. For info, I have an office chair with castor cups and my pedals are set against a wall.

For all Fanatec racing wheels, all USB handbrakes including the Fanatec ClubSport, Thrustmaster TSS and Aiologs handbrake, work with full compatibility when connected via USB on PC. The proof, as they say is in the pudding – all my lap times have improved, dramatically, in virtually every racing sim I own. To round out my racing setup, I bought an authentic emergency brake handle. It’s a real car emergency brake handle that provides analog input. Instead of pressing a button to go full on e-brake, you can apply a little or a lot of brake. To find the right handbrake for your racing rig on PC, PS4 or Xbox One, there are a lot of compatibility guides you need to go through. The handbrake should be compatible with 1. Your racing wheel, 2. Your platform (PC/PS4/Xbox) and 3. The game you wish to play. Further, you will need to figure out the handbrake add-on connection, to connect it to the wheelbase/pedals or directly via USB. In some cases, a USB adapter is also needed to make things work. Now once installed the brake is Hard and I would say if you don’t have a rigid sim frame it could be an issue as the force required is substantial. So if you have a foldable playseat the frame will definitely move under braking. The wheel spins provide a bit of Casino fun with a wheel of fortune or slot machine-like chance to win new cars, cosmetics, game currency and more. It seems like the game always rewards you with something. There are so many cars to play with, including my Subaru WRX STI (albeit a few years earlier edition). It’s stiff and almost impossible to push all the way in. It’s not broken. That stiffness is by design. It provides a bit of that hydraulic brake pedal feel. The feel is great, but not much fun when I can’t apply full brakes. I have bought the True Brake in December, and while I did not have the time to use it as much as I would have liked, after few months of practice I am fully satisfied.

For all Fanatec wheels, the Fanatec ClubSport Handbrake V1.5 works perfectly on PS4 when connected to Fanatec wheelbase/pedals with the included cable. Alternatively, you can use other handbrakes like Thrustmaster TSS or Aiologs handbrake with the help of DriveHub.I use my Logitech G27 on a desk. I have a box with weights behind my pedal assembly that sits between the pedal assembly and the room’s wall. I have heavy boxes placed behind my desk chair (Sparco racing seat on an office chair base) that prevent my seat from moving around when I’m braking. It is essential that both your pedal assembly and seat are completely secured if you are going to use this mod. The mod made me a bit faster, and a lot more consistent. I am now racing ACC with almost no mistakes (or minor ones) during race day. Complete game changer.

Note: In a handful of games that support USB input on PS4, ie. Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally, DiRT 4, WRC 7 and SLRE, you can use any USB handbrake (Fanatec ClubSport, Thrustmaster TSS or Aiologs handbrake) via USB and map it as a standalone device. Handbrake for Logitech G29 on PS4 I’m using a typical gaming chair that slides around, so I bought a cargo strap to prevent moving when pushing the pedals in. That strap fastens to the stand, then I wrap it around the chair base before fastening the other side to the stand. It works pretty well as an alternative to a full chair mount for racing. Logitech 920 Racing Wheel One thing to note: I was surprised by the amount of force required to detach the three wires from the G29 assembly. It could be easy to damage the wires if you are not careful as you pull them away. The instructions do state this should be done with care. Initially I struggled to adjust to the new pedal feel, but after a few tests and edits in Logitech software I found the correct set up in pedal force (48% in G-Hub). With the original set, and the Playset Challenger, my main issues were:

Questions and answers of the customers

I play a wide variety of games, so I avoided something bulky like a play seat. Maybe one day I’ll splurge on one of those all in one setups with mounts for HOTAS, wheel and slide out for a keyboard. For now, Wheel Stand A sim racing setup is incomplete without a handbrake. For all the drifting fans out there, and especially for those interested in rally games like DiRT, a handbrake is a very essential accessory. Most people assign the handbrake function to a button on the wheel, which works fine for occasional engagement. It’s only when you’re making hairpin turns, and desperately need to be perfect, you realise that you need a handbrake solution; because every split second matters.
