Description

After trying to prove she is a capable secretary, Kaya uncovers Kyouhei's vampiric secret. She becomes his midnight secretary after a while, supplying him with doses of nocturnal blood. As their relationship continues, the two grow closer and fall in love despite the fact they live in different worlds. The main character is insufferable. She is so dumb, naive, and ignorant that it hurt my brain. The male lead is even dumber. There is a second male lead who is taken advantage of by this main gender bender princess. Mito is out on the streets. No job, no money, and no place to stay. After being saved by a vampire named Ruka, Mito agrees to be his thrall. Ruka tells Mito that he's been looking for a boy like him for some time now because he won't feed from a woman. Which would be fine except Mito is a woman. She disguises herself as a boy to help her survive being homeless, and now she is too desperate to let him know that she's a girl. Kuroe Kurose is an ex-vampire hunter who now lives with Misaki Minato, a recently converted vampire. However, he continues to conduct supernatural investigations which always concerns Misaki. The art is pretty for the most part, but that's about all the praise I have. While Mito's situation is heartbreaking, the story doesn't dwell on her hardships and it feels like it's just there for the story. This is disappointing as Mito's situation could provide an interesting discussion on homelessness and how callous people can be towards homeless individuals, but NOPE! Can't have any of that depressing stuff in our smutty shoujo romance! Let's just throw her into a dorm bursting with "hot" guys and move on!EditSynopsis Mito Yamamoto is a beautiful man, so much so that women swarm the restaurant he works at daily. When the restaurant owner decides that he has had enough, he fires Mito, leaving him unemployed and with no place to call home. Aya Shouoto is known for creating numerous hit manga, such as The Demon Prince of Momochi House. In He's My Only Vampire, Kana Takachiko is a kind high school student who enjoys helping others.

Though I think the most ridiculous thing about this series is that Mito lived on the street but has long hair, wearing a wig for the short hair boy look. That makes zero sense. Why not just cut her hair short??? 🙄 Ruka explains that a man's blood tastes disgusting, and the blood of someone unloved has an even worse flavor. However, Ruka cannot drink from girls, so he has been looking for a beautiful boy to become his thrall. He proposes that Mito fill this role and that he allow Ruka's affections to "ripen" his blood. Mito accepts and begins living with Ruka in the Hijirigaoka Boys' Academy dormitory. However, there is just one problem in all this: Mito is actually a girl!

Vampire Dormitory was written and illustrated by Ema Tooyama, the manga author behind Missions of Love. It began its run in the Nakayoshi publication on October 2, 2018. Despite the series only having three volumes, everything about this manga is promising enough to warrant a read. Whatever - the rest of the book is a hilarious combo of gender positivity and some mild gay panic (the overall message does seem to be that you love who you love, which is appreciated) that’s offset by how much the mangaka loves drawing sexy boys and also sexy girls disguised as boys in various states of smoulder. Not normally my cup of tea, but here it works. First and foremost, I'd like to express my gratitude to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for providing me with an e-ARC of this manga. On the subject of the pretty boys readers have met so far, this is purely subjective but I don't find them that attractive. Since I predominantly read shounen action series (that also happen to have pretty boys), I've grown so use to the "shounen pretty boy" aesthetic and am disinterested in the glossy, sparkly "shoujo pretty boy" aesthetic. Again, this is pure bias on my part, but that's how I feel.

Nothing was going on with the manga honestly. The pace was a bit off and everything was with no substance. I was expecting a semi-serious plot but it was meh. The only time I enjoyed reading the manga was when Ren made an appearance or the mangaka's side illustration on the left of the manga Literally vampire trash, it has all the shojo tropes you can possibly think of then throw in your typical vampire story and you have this manga. Despite all that it made me laugh so much with how ridiculous it actually was and I rated it so high purely out of enjoyment. As well as the nostalgic feeling I got as it reminded me of all the cringy manga I read as a teenager. Esther Mayfield, a girl living in 19th-century London, has her life turned upside down when a Count forces her to become his bride. To top it all off, this Count happens to be a vampire.
