Katja soon will learn that she is typing some notes about a patient who was treated during ww1, learning everything about the mental health of such a patient, understanding now how terrible Hitler's mental health was for the world and his agenda.

This is the third installment in the Dr. Thomas Silkstone franchise, as it continues the exploits of its eponymous investigator during his time in the eighteenth century. First published on the first of January in 2013, this was to be the next adventure in the ongoing saga of the doctor, as he gets his next case to investigate. Following in the same style and tone, it manages to recapture the overall ambiance of the series, giving the readers more of what they want with it. A unique historical fiction story that stands out from other books in the genre.’ NetGalley reviewer, With the notebook hidden in her hat box, Katja and Doctor Viktor travel to Paris. Seeking refuge in the Shakespeare and Company bookshop, they hope to find a publisher brave enough to print the controversial script. All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. Moving along the different countries in Europe the book has book around book premise with a key dedication towards the actual historical events. The book explains a few parts while leaving some to be discovered by the reader by themselves.b>TESSA HARRIS read History at Oxford University and has been a journalist, writing for several national newspapers and magazines for more than thirty years. She is the author of nine published historical novels. Her debut, The Anatomist’s Apprentice, won the Romantic Times First Best Mystery Award 2012 in the US. She lectures in creative writing at Hawkwood College, Stroud and is married with two children. She lives in the Cotswolds. This is where Katja meets and seeks safe harbour with Sylvia the owner of a Paris bookstore called 'Shakespeare and Company' and Daniel Keenan an Irish journalist appointed the role and responsibility to publish the notebook and reveal it's secrets in the attempt to stop the Nazis and War. This WWII historical fiction centres around Adolf Hitler’s mysteriously missing psychiatric file from the time he was admitted to hospital following First World War injuries. This story of espionage provides conjecture on what may have happened to the notes and the people who had knowledge about the case. Before reading the book I was not aware of these notes, but was so fascinated that midway through the book, I looked up whether they had existed and had ever been published! Running alongside this main plot is a romance, although I would say this is very much a minor subplot - I personally didn't feel the chemistry between Katja and Daniel, but it was a nice addition to the story nonetheless. Katja is a typist for Doctor Viktor's office. When she comes across some of the psychological records of a young man treated after the Great War, and watches in horror as he continues gaining political power. She and the doctor decide the public needs to be aware of his mental health issues, but Nazi Germany will do anything to stop them from publishing his records. The notes in his possession declare Hitler unfit for office - a secret that could destroy the Fuhrer's reputation, and change the course of the war if exposed. . .

A bold, strong story and one that drew me in from the start. It is emotional, unique, fast paced, intriguing, engrossing and a book I just couldn’t put down!’ NetGalley reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As she gains various awards for her work, along with a number of different translations as well, taking her novels worldwide, she is making progress in the literary industry at an exponential rate. Setting up the characters in such a strong manner, they have created a lasting impact on her audience, with many readers eagerly awaiting the next installment of the Thomas Silkstone franchise. As her career grows from strength-to-strength, she continues to progress as a writer, which is something that is expected to continue long into the foreseeable future. After Katja and Dr. Viktor arrived in Paris and had settled into their separate rooms at the hotel, Katja ventured out to the Shakespeare and Company bookshop. It was there that Katja met Sylvia Beach, the owner and Daniel Keenan, a journalist originally from Ireland. Both Daniel and Katja were immediately drawn to each other. There was an instant attraction between the two of them but so much more. Daniel harbored a tragic past, though. He was unable to let it go and the only thing that masked it was liquor. That afternoon, Katja was drawn to Daniel in a way that she had never been drawn to anyone else. Daniel impressed Katja with his knowledge of literature and authorships. She didn’t want their time together to end. How silly of her! They had just met. What did she know about him? This was such a well written, fast-paced novel that I flew through it in a few hours. Katja is such a strong inspiring character who is willing to go to great lengths to do what is right. Following her journey against all odds, we become invested in her success. This was beautifully written and elements of love, loss and friendship are so delicately interwoven that your emotions are assailed even more.Katja gets a job with Dr Victor ( a psychiatrist) who divulges to her his secret work on the mental health records of Adolf Hitler. And now that she is an accomplice in this work, it's her duty to reveal the front to the world. While they are secretly working on the scripts, the nazis have made a move and are now after their life - for the secret that can destroy Hitler's reign must not be exposed. A mix of danger, suspense, mystery, romance and heartbreaking choices make for a story I would definitely recommend.’ NetGalley reviewer, If only the world knew about the existence of those notes, perhaps we would have a different history... or maybe the world knew about them but there was nothing that could be changed...

A wonderfully written, lovely paced book . I read late into the night, couldn't wait to see what happened.’ NetGalley reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Any issues with the book list you are seeing? Or is there an author or series we don’t have? Let me know! Katja secures a role as a typist for Dr Viktor, a man who knows intimately how unbalanced Hitler is and makes it his mission to collate all the information from previous diagnostic records.

Katja has got a job as a personal assistant to Dr. Victor in the clinic. She has not realized immediately what danger she is in. But not only fears, anxiety and uncertainty await her. She meets Daniel in Paris. After that, her life changes.... The notes in his possession declare Hitler unfit for office – a secret that could destroy the Führer’s reputation, and change the course of the war if exposed. . . Growing up in the United Kingdom, Tessa Harris always had a keen passion for the written word from an early age, something which she took through into adulthood. Always looking for some new material she was never short of ideas for her next novel, as she’s take in inspiration from the world around, giving her characters a sense of believability whatever time-period they had been placed in. This was something that was derived from her down-to-earth nature which can be seen reflected in her work, as it remains relatable to both her and her many scores of readers.

Sometimes I hate myself for feeling like I need to finish a book when I don't really have to. This book dragged on and on and if it wasn't for my inability to let go of it, I would've stopped reading halfway through. From the first words, the unfolding events of the story capture and carry you away with a fair strong wind, as if you are in an aspiring train rushing to the distant 1939. You are transported to Hamburg, Germany, completely forgetting who you are and where you are now. The Paris Notebook was fast paced and impeccably researched. This was the first book that I had read by Tessa Harris but it will not be the last. I will definitely be on the lookout for more books by her. The Paris Notebook was about family, love, friendships, loyalty, taking risks, determination, betrayal, exposure and dedication. Although, Katja’s and Daniel’s characters were purely fictional, I really enjoyed them. Dr. Viktor’s character was based on an actual doctor of psychiatry and a notebook actually existed. Many of the places mentioned in The Paris Notebook existed as did the artists and authors that were mentioned. I loved the ending! If you enjoy good historical fiction based on true events, then I recommend The Paris Notebook very highly. The Paris Notebook was published on February 15, 2023. Medical records and psychological evaluations reflected the mental deficiencies of Hitler and could be used for his demise if the right hands get the information. A mix of danger, suspense, mystery, romance and heartbreaking choices make for a story I would definitely recommend. ’ NetGalley reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Katja is now suffering the effects of the war and now she has to find a job to be able to survive not knowing she was about to work for some nazi that will make her transcribe many things that she was not supposed to know or understand, some classify papers that can easily make her life a living hell.
