The other Lamech was a descendant of Seth. After Cain’s banishment Eve bore another son and named him Seth. In contrast to Cain’s sinful line, Seth’s descendants were known for righteousness. Enoch, Seth’s great-great-great grandson, walked so closely with God that God took him directly to heaven when Enoch was 365 years old (Genesis 5:22–24). Enoch’s son Methusaleh (the oldest man recorded in the Bible) continued the righteous line and fathered Lamech (verse 25). A medieval legend has Cain arriving at the Moon, where he eternally settled with a bundle of twigs. This was originated by the popular fantasy of interpreting the shadows on the Moon as a face. An example of this belief can be found in Dante Alighieri's Inferno (XX, 126 [43]) where the expression "Cain and the twigs" is used as a kenning for "moon". Byron 2011, p.17: "(Sammael) riding on the serpent came to her and she conceived [Cain]" – Pirqe R. L. 21, Trans. by Friedlander.

iii] And Cain said to Abel his brother, "Let us go out to the field," and when they were in the field Cain rose against Abel his brother and killed him. [iv] And the Lord said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother? And he said, "I do not know: am I my brother's keeper?" [v] And He said, "What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the soil. And so, cursed shall you be by the soil that gaped with its mouth to take your brother's blood from your hand. If you till the soil, it will no longer give you strength. A restless wanderer shall you be on the earth." And Cain said to the Lord, "My punishment is too great to bear. Now that You have driven me this day from the soil I must hide from Your presence, I shall be a restless wanderer on the earth and whoever finds me will kill me." And the Lord said to him, "Therefore whoever kills Cain shall suffer sevenfold vengeance." And the Lord set a mark upon Cain so that whoever found him would not slay him. According to a Toreador legend, while being amongst the mortals, Caine noticed a couple who were very much in love. Seeing their love amplified his own loneliness in sin, and so having dwelt on his sin for an eon, Caine thought that maybe he could reconcile something in his nature by Embracing them with the gift of immortality, so that their love would live for all eternity. However, after having been Embraced, the lovers discovered that they could not have children together as they wished. In an act of utter despair, they both walked into the sunlight to their Final Death. Caine was so heartbroken over this event that he forbade anyone to ever speak their names in his presence or otherwise. Thus, their names were lost to history. [10]

In Bereshit Rabbah (22:2), a discussion of Gen. 4:1 ff. has Rabbi Yehoshua ben Korcha mentioning that Cain was born with a twin sister, and Abel with two twin sisters. This is based on the principle that the otherwise superfluous accusative article "et" always conveys some additional teaching ( Pesachim 22b). The "et"'s are parsed slightly differently in Yebamot 62a where the two "et"'s in Gen. 4:2 indicate Cain and his sister, and Abel and his (one) sister. Older English translations spell the name in the 4th generation of Seth’s line as “Cainan” rather than today’s “Kenan.” It seems that at some point scholars and translators switched their preference from Cainan to Kenan, even in the NRSV, which descends from the KJV line: Quinones, Ricardo J. (14 July 2014). The Changes of Cain: Violence and the Lost Brother in Cain and Abel Literature. Princeton University Press. p.176. ISBN 978-1-4008-6214-6. Probably more Caine, also known as Cain, is considered to be the first and most powerful vampire in the mythos of the World of Darkness. Gitter, Mike (October 1987). Regarding our question, Ephraim Speiser, in the Anchor Bible, notes the Cain line, and then has this to say about what he says is an appended Seth line:We cannot examine this hypothesis. We don’t have the data. We have here only the names of the first born sons. If we had the complete family genealogy, perhaps we’d see naming patterns emerge. But without the names of siblings we cannot analyze this hypothesis. Spencer W. Kimball (1969). The Miracle of Forgiveness (Salt Lake City, Utah: Bookcraft, ISBN 0-88494-444-1) pp. 127–28.
