The 90mm probably is a great lens. The marketing around the TC is what is questionable. Not that is a capable macro lens This is a false problem. Olympus built F/4.0 PRO lenses which provide splendid IQ : 300mm F/4.0, 12-100MM f/4.0, 8-25mm F/4.0. I spent much of my time with this lens saying, “I can’t believe that just focused on something so tiny.” Even with those limits, at 4x macro, there’s still only a very small slice of the image in focus. This lens will break a fancy depth-of-field calculator because it’s too small to measure in hundredths of a meter. The margin for error is essentially non-existent at the closest focusing distance and f8. I was initially worried about that aperture limitation, but became less bothered when actually using this lens because the depth of field is so narrow. When the EVF Auto Switch is set, you can now select how the viewfinder is displayed when the monitor is open. I guess cropping into the Canon to match the FL mostly results in the same resolution across both bodies (19-20MP), diffraction and other factors probably more impactful there. Thankyou. I finally know why my [APS-C] Tamron 60mm f/2.0 Di II Macro 1:1 is so amazingly heavy and so massive, and why it was so staggeringly expensive. At least the working distance is slightly better at 1:1 than the [MFT] *90mm* Olympus. Frankly, I was able to autofocus on a snowflake and get a huge level of detail without the teleconverter. Trying to find a specific snowflake with a lens the equivalent of a 360mm is very challenging. The 2x teleconverter is ideal if you want dreamy, soft abstract macro images. The 1.4 is a bit sharper, but I th

Images captured with the PEN-F's Monochrome or Color Profile Control can be loaded into the Olympus Digital Camera Updater* so the profile control settings can be saved to your PEN-F body as a custom setting. Sharing your PEN-F's profile control settings has never been easier! According to CIPA standards. When attached to OM-1, with yaw and pitch applied to camera, half-press IS set to Off. The placement of this focus limiter switch and its ease of use means that with one move of the finger without looking up from my camera I can move in close for Super Macro mode. This is different than the way the focus limiter on the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens which takes conscious effort to get it into life size mode with that spring loaded dial. Pictures are taken on a digital SLDR camera of a medium or high class with an 8-12 MPix APS-C/DX or 4/3 detector (Canon 20/40D, Nikon D200, Pentax K10D, Olympus E-3 or Sony A100) and with an 21-25 MPix full frame cameras such as Canon 1Ds MkIII, Nikon D3x or Sony A900.”sbzine: No, that does not happen, because you can and will adjust the ISO to what you need on both systems. On FF, that's two stops more—without getting behind in anything compared to MFT, not shutter speed, not image quality. Like always, when you do need more, not less depth of field, it's just a draw, though—FF loses its sensor size advantage for image quality.

This lens is sooo versatile, with more than Super Macro to telephoto (180mm 35mm equivalent or 252mm with the MC14 teleconverter, or 360mm with the MC20 teleconverter)” so many subjects to use it on.” The focus distance limiter switch has three options; regular focusing, macro, and ‘S Macro’. To obtain that 2x magnification, you’ll need to be in the S Macro setting regardless if you are focusing manually or using autofocus.

Longer Focal Length with Increased Working Distance

As for image stabilization, I kept it on most of the time, and the steadiness in the viewfinder was apparent. That said, the difference was not as noticeable as I’ve witnessed on some telephoto lenses, especially at high magnifications. This is normal for a macro lens, but I still recommend keeping IS on unless you’re shooting from a tripod. According to CIPA measurements, it offers an impressive 7 stops of stabilization. Sharpness I will be very interested to know if this 90mm lens presents some vignetting (hard, soft or null) as tube lens in a combination with microscope objective like Mitutoyo X10. I would be interested in a Laowa 15mm f/4.0 macro lens equivalent built for M43, to get really intimate macro shots, but with better sharpness and ease of use than from an adapted manual lens.
