Experience what the excitement is about! Based on the award-winning Jesus Storybook Bible, the Jesus Storybook Bible Curriculum Kit is great for both Sunday School and homeschool use, geared towards kids ages 4-7. Rarely more than 100 lines (about 6-8 minutes) the stories of creation, Noah, Joseph, Moses, Daniel and all the best loved stories of Jesus sweep across breathtakingly bright and bold illustrations that reflect the beauty and wonder of the words themselves. The collective focus of the well known stories is centred on the person, life, works and meaning of the Bible’s central figure – the baby born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth who grew to be the friend and saviour of all children everywhere. I haven't read the whole thing yet, but it's a great approach to biblical stories. It's NOT a BIBLE (in the sense that it doesn't contain all the chapters and verses), but a collection of Bible stories (or should I say, Biblical passages) recounted. It's a great addition to a children's Bible and I hope my kids will read it when they get old enough!

Sally Lloyd-Jones: About the Author: HarperCollins Publishers". harpercollins.com. 2013 . Retrieved 29 September 2013. Sometimes she does this with startling insight: Her take on the story of Leah and Rachel is an ancient reading of the text that points straight to the gospel and the doctrine of election. Her telling of the woman’s anointing of Jesus in Simon’s home in Luke 7 connects her act of adoration with Samuel’s anointing of David in 1 Samuel.

Jago the illustrator, and Sally Lloyd-Jones (no relation to Martyn) the author, are a good pair. She brings the same creativity and sense of humor to her telling of the Bible’s stories. At the centre of the Story is a baby, the child upon whom everything will depend. Every story whispers his name. From Noah to Moses to the great King David - every story points to him. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle - the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. Hilarious “guide” to getting a job as told by the young boss (aka the 6 year-old self-appointed job expert). Littlest ones will fall in love with this padded board book that helps them learn how to talk to God.

Zondervan commissioned the chapter ‘The Servant King’ as an animation which was produced by Quirky Motion and directed by John Lumgair. [4] Awards [ edit ] But sharing a faith – showing how much it means to you, living it, spending time with it and spending time with your children opens a door and invites a child to enter and discover what you’ve already found. The same is true of reading. If you open the door, show the joys and adventures inside, children will be eager to enter and make new discoveries for themselves. This critical perspective is missing from so much of the evangelical church. I remember as a young pastor being asked by the director of children’s ministries in our church to help out in vacation Bible school by dressing up like an Old Testament character and telling the kids my story. The multiple award-winning Jesus Storybook Bible tells the story beneath all the stories in the Bible. It takes the whole Bible to tell this Story. And at the center of the story, there is a baby, the Child upon whom everything would depend. From Noah to Moses to King David, every story whispers his name. Jesus is like the missing pieces in a puzzle- the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name disproves the adage that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Sally Lloyd-Jones is a leading writer of inspirational books for children and is an expert at conveying biblical truth to young children. She is the author of three bestselling children's Bibles, including the Gold Book Award-winning Baby's First Bible and, most recently, the Moonbeam Award Winner The Jesus Storybook Bible. It’s the new “potty-proof” board book edition of the fun tale that turns toilet training into a party. Sharing the Gospel with The Jesus Storybook Bible has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.” -Ann Voskamp The following languages are no longer in print but were once available. You may be able to find used copies online. The Jesus Storybook Bible gives you the full colour, illustrated collection of 44 best loved Bible stories you need to introduce your children to a lifelong love of the wonders of the Bible. Each story, from The Creation, through Noah, Daniel and more, to Jesus and onward to the promise of a new and perfect Heaven, is retold in breathtaking colour and straightforward words ideal for children to hear, read and understand. But, every story whispers Jesus’ name. Samson’s story may be a uniquely hard case, and I notice Sally Lloyd-Jones doesn’t tell it. But she manages to show again and again the presence of Christ in all the Old Testament Scriptures, and the presence of the Old Testament Scriptures in the life of Christ. It has turned out to be what all of us in the store suspected when we first saw it: the kind of children’s Bible storybook for which many, many thoughtful Christian parents have been waiting.”– Westminster Theological Seminary Bookstore Children will love the vivid illustrations and animated videos that bring to life Bible stories from both the Old and New Testament. They’ll learn that every story in the Bible points to Jesus — and what that means for them!

individual lesson plans plus 6 review lessons (3 Old Testament, 3 New Testament – available online) plus ideas for engaging activities, easy-to-use instructions and notes for teachers based on material from Timothy Keller, memory verses, color handouts, and more. This is artistic license at its best, throughout this wonderful book. God commands Pharaoh to set his people free and the despot reacts with a tantrum, stamping his foot and shouting, “Why should I? … . Don’t want to. WON’T!” The title Lloyd-Jones gives to the classic story of Daniel in the lion’s den is, “Daniel and the Scary Sleepover.” The Jesus Storybook Bible – now with British (rather than US) English spellings and sentences, is just such a reason for anyone who cares about nurturing reading and faith in primary school age children to get excited. While children from about 6 and above will be able to read the short, thoughtfully laid out and easy to follow stories for themselves, even children as young as 4 will love to have the 44 Old and New Testament tales read to them at bedtime and story-time. But Lloyd-Jones’s writing isn’t cutesy. She has a grasp of the profound. How does one explain to a child the agony of Jesus in Gethsemane, and his prayer of surrender to his Father? Lloyd-Jones does it as well as any biblical commentator:A (very silly) book about how reaching out to share can open up your world–and your heart. (Also: lots of hats!) Beautifully written and illustrated, The Jesus Storybook Bible invites children to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God’s great story of salvation- and at the center of their story too. All too often, children’s Bible storybooks isolate individual biblical stories from the message of the Scriptures… The Jesus Storybook Bible is a wonderful exception to this trend… exegetically faithful to the text while directing children to what adults would call the “redemptive historical” meaning… Bible stories learned this way do what God intended them to do – they lead people to know and believe the gospel of Jesus.”– WTS Bookstore
