Abby was supposed to be called Lucy Ricardo after Ann M. Martin's favorite show I Love Lucy and Anna was called Ethel after Lucy's best friend. But the name the twins contest was made to guess the twin's names and Abby and Anna Stevenson were chosen by Martin and her editors. Abby and Anna Stevenson were made up by Sara Ruth Bell of Missouri who was the winner of the contest. Dawn has always thought there was a secret passage hidden in her house. But that doesn't explain why creepy things happen when Dawn's at home, or the spooky noises coming from behind her bedroom wall. Additionally, you can find the graphic novels in libraries. WorldCat can be used to find the closest library to you. My favorite part of the novel is when Mary Anne, Alex, Stacy, and Toby all go on a double date. This is my favorite part because I think it is romantic that they found someone they like other than the kids they are babysitting. In the novel, it states, “Hey, Stacy? I got you something.” This indicates that he wants her to remember him because they might not ever see each other again. In the novel, it states, “Hey! You guys look great.” This indicates romance because he is complementing on how they look and making them feel good about themselves. But what a mistake! The Baby-sitters are way out of place in the big city. Mary Anne sounds like a walking guide book; Dawn's afraid of everything; Kristy can't keep her mouth shut; and Claudia's jealous of Stacey's friends.

In 2006, Graphix, a division of Scholastic, released a graphic novel version of the first novel, Kristy's Great Idea. The novel is a contemporary yet faithful adaptation illustrated by Raina Telgemeier, an Eisner Awards-winning author and illustrator. The series continued with the release of The Truth About Stacey, Mary Anne Saves the Day, and concluded with Claudia and Mean Janine. Stacey's so excited! She's invited her friends from the Baby-sitters Club down to New York City for a long weekend. It's going to be perfect-a party and a sleepover Friday night, a big baby-sitting job on Saturday, and lots of sightseeing on Sunday. Good and lighthearted read, only took me about 3 hours total to read! Got it for christmas and just started it on the 1st. It was a good break from the "Red Queen" book (#4) that I was reading, to give my brain a break (yes I read it right in the middle of the 4th book {I do it a lot}). Very nice meaning to friendship.
