Description

An oil-soluble chemical sunscreen agent that protects the skin from UVB (295-315 nm) with a peak protection at 306 nm. Homosalate is not a strong UV filter in and of itself (gives only SPF 4.3 protection at max. allowed 10% concentration) and it is not photostable (looses 10% of its SPF protection in 45 mins) so it alwayshas to be combined with other sunscreens for properprotection. Its big advantage, though, is that it is a liquid and is excellent for dissolving other hard to solubilizepowder sunscreen agents, like the famous Avobenzone. People with oily-prone skin, meet Cosrx's Vitamin E Vitalizing Sunscreen SPF 50+, which is formulated with silica and cotton extract to keep excess sebum under control, so you don't end up with a greasy T-zone by lunch. For a dose of moisture (because, yes, oily skin needs it), you can count on antioxidant vitamin E and cocoa extract to keep skin feeling soft and nourished. No harmful chemicals are present and the product’s SPF is at least 30. (The harmful chemicals that I look for are BHT, parabens, formaldehyde releasing preservatives and Oxybenzone. 3) What UVA and UVB sunscreen filters are present?

Portulaca Oleracea is anice succulent with bright yellow flowers and edible nutritious vegetables. It's a famousplant in Korean traditional medicine to treat infection andirritated skin. Contains natural extracts such as phyto-oligo, inca omega oil, and bamboo extracts. Ingredient List, Fragrance & Sunscreen Filters An oil-soluble chemical sunscreen agent that protects skin in the UVB and somewhat in the UVA II range with a peak absorption of 304 nm. Its protection is not strong enough on its own but it is quite photostable (loses 10% of SPF protection in 95 mins) and is often used to stabilize other photo-unstable UV-filters, for example, Avobenzone. It is also often used to improve the water resistance of the products. If you live in Asia, sunscreen regulation generally follows PA system (see below) and I assume this is a PA++ product AND not a PA+++ product. WATER, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, HOMOSALATE, ETHYLHEXYL SALICYLATE, DIETHYLAMINO HYDROXYBENZOYL HEXYLBENZOATE, OCTOCRYLENE, C12-15 ALKYL BENZOATE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, CYCLOMETHICONE, ALCOHOL, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, METHYL METHACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, PEG-100 STEARATE, SODIUM ACRYLATE/SODIUMACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, PHENOXYETHANOL, ISOHEXADECANE, ALUMINUM STEARATE, POLYHYDROXYSTEARIC ACID, PROPANEDIOL, OCTYLDODECANOL, FRAGRANCE, XANTHAN GUM, POLYSORBATE 80, BAMBUSA VULGARIS WATER, ALUMINA, ECHIUM PLANTAGINEUM SEED OIL, VISCUM ALBUM (MISTLETOE) LEAF EXTRACT, GLYCINE SOJA (SOYBEAN) LIPIDS, CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRACT, SODIUM HYALURONATE, PORTULACA OLERACEA EXTRACT,

There is a scent of apricots like how the description says with a super faint scent of sunscreen. I’d say its about 95% apricot and 5% sunscreen smell. Smell-o-scale: 7/10 in terms of how strong the scent is. For those with sensitive skin, Allure Korea editors recommend the ultra-light Dr.G Green Mild Up Sun SPF50+. The longtime favorite is free of fragrance but rich in soothing cica and skin-repairing ceramides. Although it's made of 100 percent zinc oxide, the sunscreen still suits every skin tone. A clear, oil-soluble, "cosmetically-elegant" liquid that is the most commonly used chemical sunscreen. It absorbs UVB radiation (at wavelengths: 280-320 nm) with a peak protection at 310nm. Regarding Homosalate's safety profile, we do not have the best news. In-vitro (made in the labs) studies have shown that it might have some estrogenic activity. Do not panic, these studies were not conducted on real humans under real world conditions. Still, if you are a 'better safe than sorry' type, be careful when using Homosalate containing sunscreens long-term and full-body.

It’s a handy multi-tasking ingredient that gives the skin a nice, soft feel. At the same time, it also boosts the effectiveness of other preservatives, such as the nowadays super commonly used phenoxyethanol. To take this measurement system one step further, Dr. Ko Lamm points out that Western sunscreens are formulated as a necessity by focusing on the immediate effects of the sun. Korean sunscreens, on the other hand, are part of a lifestyle. They defend your skin from the long-term effects of the sun. Good old water, aka H2O. The most common skincare ingredient of all. You can usually find it right in the very first spot of the ingredient list, meaning it’s the biggest thing out of all the stuff that makes up the product.

Chemically speaking, it is the attachment of a glycerin molecule to the fatty acid called stearic acid. It can be produced from most vegetable oils (in oils three fattyacidmolecules are attached to glycerin instead of just one like here) in a pretty simple, "green" process that is similar to soap making. It's readily biodegradable. BG’s main job is usually to be a solvent for the other ingredients. Other tasks include helping the product to absorb faster and deeper into the skin (penetration enhancer), making the product spread nicely over the skin (slip agent), and attracting water (humectant) into the skin. I am happy using this sunscreen on the assumption that it is a SPF 30 product offering a PA++ rated protection against UVA radiation. This product is not tested on animals and is free of artificial colors, animal products, parabens and mineral oil. Let me explain: A super common, waxy, white, solid stuff that helps water and oil to mix together, gives body to creams and leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth.

A copolymer is a big molecule that consists not of one but of two repeating subunits. This particular copolymer is a handy helper ingredient to form nice gel textures. If you are someone who likes to know what you put on your face then fragrance is not your best friend - there's no way to know what’s really in it. We've said it once, and we'll say it again: Korean sunscreen is just better than Western sunscreen. This statement comes down to innovation. Because sunscreen is considered a drug according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and its chemicals and components must undergo formal drug approval processes, stateside beauty brands are limited by what they can spike their formulas with. In fact, "there hasn't been a new [chemical or mineral] approved for use in sunscreens in the U.S. since 1999," according to cosmetic chemist Stephen Ko. A 100% plant derived, natural (Ecocert approved) multi-functional ingredient that has emollient and moisturizing properties, can work as a co-emulsifier (meaning that next to other emulsifiers it can help water and oil to mix) and even more importantly has a strong antimicrobial activity. You'll notice PA next to SPF in many of the product names below. While SPF focuses on UVB light ( which burns skin) and measures how protected you are from sunburn, PA is all about UVA light (which visibly ages us) and your protection from developing pigmentation, says Zion Ko Lamm, MD, a Charlotte-based internal medicine doctor who combines Korean skin care with wellness. She equates PA+++ to SPF 30 and recommends seeking out sunscreens with a minimum of each. You may recognize Iope for its retinol or cushion compact but here's your reminder to not sleep on the UV Defense Sun Protector EX SPF 39. What sets this sunscreen apart is its Micro Filter formula, which forms a protective barrier over your skin and prevents fine dust from settling. If you're an urbanite who is frequently exposed to harmful air pollution levels, scoop this up. You'll see some familiar, editor-beloved ingredients in Thank You Farmer's Sun Project Water Sun Cream, including soothing aloe leaf and hydrating sunflower seed extracts. But this hybrid SPF, which means it contains both mineral and chemical filters (homosalate, octorylene, and titanium dioxide, to be exact), is also derm-approved as well. " Centella asiatica extract and bamboo water are two key ingredients that soothe and hydrate the skin," Eunice Park, MD, a dual board-certified facial plastic surgeon based in Long Island, NY, and founder of AIREM says, noting that this moisturizing sunscreen is ideal for normal to dry skin types. It's also loaded with fatty acids(mostly linoleic (50-74%) and oleic (14-35%)). The unrefined version(be sure to use that on your skin!) is especially high in linoleic acid that is great even for acne-prone skin. Its comedogen index is 0, meaning that it's pretty much an all skin-type oil. A clear, colorless, almost odorless oil that spreads nicely and easily and gives a velvet dry skin feel. It is good friends with sunscreen agents and helps to solubilize them. what‑it‑does For the record, my skin type is dry dehydrated. So I expect all my sunscreens to leave my skin moisturized with a dewy finish. Bonus points if there is no white cast. With that being said, I’m gonna be judging this sunscreen based on how well it worked for my skin type. Pros
