About this deal

And there are, it turns out, limits to these monitors’ powers of resolution. ‘Girls in Their Summer Clothes’ by Bruce Springsteen [Columbia] is a narrow, congested pea-souper of a recording, with competing elements piled on top of each other – and despite their best efforts, the IE600 can’t open it up or spread it out. The listener can almost sense a power struggle going on, as the monitors attempt to force some distance between the horns, the percussion, the piano and the voice. Still, that’s more about the recording than the Sennheiser IE600. Concluding, the IE600 demands a significant amount of power and a quality DAC to sound its best. COMPARISONS Since I received this unit from my fellow audiophile Pulkit Dreamz, I am grateful to him. And as I've said in all of my evaluations, the same is true for this one: all of the concepts I've expressed below are entirely my own, original ideas that haven't been influenced by anyone else. The IE800S are by far the smallest hifi-speakers I’ve tried. As if the IE600 wasn’t small already, these are even smaller. The IE800Ss are made of a ceramic material and are miniscule. They are almost too small to be handled. The sound is amazing, though. That something smaller than half a dice can sound this amazing is impressive. It is no doubt whatsoever that this also is a Sennheiser: The IE600 and the IE800S are not tuned very differently. The two basically require the same amount of juice to reach the same listening level.I would say the IE 600 has just a bit more body, impact and presence as a fully neutral tuned IEM. The IE 600 is not overly full and heavy, and everything is perfectly in control to keep things with their boundaries. It has just enough impact and push to keep things lively and exciting, yet controlled and precise. Wired’ beats ‘wireless’ every time, all things being equal – but when you’re asking this much for wired in-ear monitors, ‘beat’ isn’t quite enough. Happily, the Sennheiser IE600 don’t so much ‘beat’ the best true wireless in-ears around ‘wipe the floor’ with them. A fast transient response goes a long way, and the IE 600 features that well with its midrange extension. The IE 900 also has a clean and detailed timbre, but in terms of drive it is not as impactful as the lows and takes on a more natural response. Instrumental and vocal clarity are incredible on both IEMs, but in terms of tonal richness, the IE 600 has a bit of an advantage over the 900. Some might actually prefer the 900’s more subdued performance in its midrange, as I think less aggression here balances the frequency response in a way that makes a more specific sound profile emerge. One that might be more dynamic that the constant force of the mids on the IE 600. Highs

Do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life. For Sara Schweiger, a 9-5 spent listening to and writing about amazing audio gear never feels like work. The treble frequencies have good extension, and there's no hint of sibilance here. The soundstage is wide and detailed, with good instrument and vocal separation — Sennheiser knows what it's doing, and the IE600 make listening to a wide variety of genres thoroughly enjoyable. It’s not as neutrally tuned as the reference IE 900 is but it’s also much more neutral compared to the fun IE 300. However I do feel it’s closer to the neutral side than it is to the fun side, but this in a musical and slightly warmer way with a smooth delivery. (though the IE 600 is not full warm sounding IEM). The IE 600 is very natural and effortless sounding and it’s actually quite linear (see the bass part later) and balanced. There may not be much of them, but what there is of the IE600 has been very carefully designed and constructed by a company seemingly uninterested in cutting any corners whatsoever. vs zen pro : ie600 sounds more energetic and resolving yet, zen pro sounds more neutral and calm, but could be bit boring for me
