Project Princess – Princess Mia embarks on an epic adventure for one so admittedly unhandy: Along with her cohorts from school, she’s off to build houses for the less fortunate. It doesn’t take Mia long to realize that helping others is very hard work. Royal Wedding – For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia’s gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to pop the question! The answer was a royal oui. Content warnings: alcohol consumption, forced marriage, kidnapping, lethal injuries, loss of a parent & sibling (mentioned), murder, poisoning (mentioned), sexual content So. If you've been dying to know what happens to Mia next, I really think you're gonna enjoy the hell out of this one! And a grown up Mia never makes mistakes. She’s perfect while everyone around her is childish. With the addition of the twins it would have been fun to read about parenting fails and relationship dynamics under quarantine but instead the story is all about what everyone else is doing wrong and how much Mia loves wine.

And of course Grandmere, who has a plan to keep Genovia from being thrown out of the EU that seems to include making unscheduled appearances in the hallways of Albert Einstein High in her tiara, and forcing her only granddaughter to fondle the body parts of long deceased saints . . . Royal Wedding Disaster (set during Royal Wedding, of course) – Olivia’s half-sister Mia is very busy learning how to take over the country while trying to plan a wedding and her father is actually getting remarried himself-to Mia’s mother!-and spends most of his time “renovating” the summer palace, although Grandmere says he is just hiding from the wedding preparations. Olivia hardly gets to see either of them. Fortunately, Grandmere has her own plans for Mia’s wedding, and needs Olivia’s help to pull them off. I thought this book was an adult novel, but I'm not sure. The character of Mia is so immature that I wondered if she had ever grown from her introduction to this series. When I looked this up to see how long this series had been running, I was amazed to see that the very first book was for kids 11 years old and up...it sure has changed since Mia is married. However, she still acts very immaturely, and I can't suspend my disbelief enough to envision her running a country. stars. The Princess Diaries series has always had the unusual ability to be both more and less than meets the eye, and this volume is no exception.

Ransom my Heart has some of my favourite romance tropes such as strangers/enemies-to-lovers, love interests being forced together due to the most absurd circumstances and fake dating (or in this case, fake marriage). However, I've read books that make better use of these tropes. There isn't much chemistry between Finnula and Hugo. From the moment Hugo meets Finnula, he's attracted to her, but that attraction is mostly sexual. All he cares about is getting Finnula into his bed. The sex scenes in Ransom my Heart are also pointless and does nothing to further the plot or develop the romantic relationship between the main characters. But because Grandmere is a nightmare (who can forget Helen and Frank's supposed wedding?) and the paparazzi like being paparazzi, there are... complications. In March 2020, Meg Cabot shared 16 delightful diary entries from Princess Mia on her blog, calling them “Corona Princess Diaries.” These blog posts have since been expanded into a full-length novel in The Princess Diaries series. Creo que la mayoría conocemos de qué van estos libros, fueron la inspiración para una película súper icónica de los dosmiles. La adaptación es distinta a los libros, sí, PERO la esencia es la misma:

I wasn't expecting much of a plot. The plot is predictable, but it is comical and enjoyable. However, the plot only really appears in the last half of Ransom My Heart and it's extremely clear who the antagonists are. If you grew up with this series, this is absolutely the return to the universe that you wanted. But it's not for people who aren't die-hard fans. If you liked this series in passing, this book may not be for you... but if Mia and Lilly and Tina were your best friends growing up, you will love this book, flaws and all. When they are married she is unhappy, and wants to annul it by not letting Hugo have his way with her on their wedding night (again). But wait, didnt they already to that 3 times that day. Nice try Finnula. The only bits that I did like involved Michael Moscovitz (continuing to make ladies’ hearts go bip-di-boom) and an unexpected twist involving a new character who was instantly likeable. If you've seen the movie version, this book takes up about the first third or maybe half of the movie (from what I remember), but don't let that fool you into thinking nothing much happens in this book. Michael's dad thought this was so hilarious, he bought dozens of copies to give to his friends and even his patients. Michael's asked him to stop, but his dad won't listen.

The Princess Present – Every year, Princess Mia spends the holidays in Genovia with Grandmère. This year, she’s looking forward to the most perfect Christmas ever: her boyfriend, Michael, and her best friend, Lilly, are coming to Genovia, too. But even a princess’s plans can go awry. In Disney's The Princess Diaries 2001, Mia (who was portrayed by Anne Hathaway) is aged 15, unlicensed, and owns a 1965 Mustang. She has similar qualities, but her father dies two months prior to where the movie begins, and her last name is Renaldi instead of Renaldo. She lives in San Francisco instead of New York. Racist (a dance celebrating cultural and racial diversity is described as "stupid", and a whole subplot is devoted to how racist Asian people supposedly are), sexist (sexual harrassment and groping are portrayed as things girls want), transphobic (one of my status updates had a charming quote illustrating this), and very, very heteronormative. Cabot, Meg (2006). The Princess Diaries, Volume VII: Party Princess. New York, New York. HarperCollins. ISBN 0-06-072453-6. So a portion of the proceeds of this book will go to Vow for Girls. 100% of funds raised by Vow For Girls goes directly to local organizations advancing girls’ rights! My teenage years were spent with Princess Diaries books. I kid you not - I can chart my progress through puberty with them. I desperately wanted combat boots (I owe my love for boots to Mia, really), wanted a Michael, wanted a Fat Louie, but most importantly just related so much to Mia (though I'd rather not be a princess!). While I've had my problems with the series (see: the seventh through ninth books), it's still one of my favourite guilty pleasures ever.
