Description

Hitomi is known to be extremely athletic, strong, fast, and scary; people can feel death itself after being faced by Hitomi. During March, Tadano is fretting over what to get Komi for White Day, in return for the chocolate he got on Valentine's Day. He asks Hitomi for advice, who again misinterprets Komi for Katai, asking if it's serious, but she reconsiders the long-haired shadow she saw on Valentine's, realising that it was a girl. Hitomi questions if the chocolate was for friends, or something else, Tadano is unsure, but hasitly assures himself that it couldn't be. Hitomi makes Tadano hold an image of this person in head, and, holding his shoulders, urgently demands if it's love, as Tadano sheepishly admits that he pays extra attention to this "person". Hitomi, grabbing her coat, goes to the department store for a present, as their mother eavedrops on them, only hearing that Tadano got chocolate from a boy, further deepening the misunderstanding [11].

It’s the best case scenario of a joke just escalating and escalating. There’s an omake that also preserves the ratio of stupid : excellent because of how it’s presented. Tall and busty high school girl Takano Hitomi has shark teeth, a looming presence, and an intense facial expression. However, looks can be deceiving. Beneath her imposing frame and piercing glare, Hitomi-chan is a sweet first-year student who just wants to overcome her social anxiety and make some friends. Enter Usami Yuu, a second-year boy who is shorter than Hitomi but not put off by her intimidating looks. A friendship blossoms--and maybe more! Don't miss this charming romcom between a scary-but-sweet girl and her smaller, loving senpai.

COVER Corporation Announces hololive English VTuber Gawr Gura Collaboration with Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium It's just a good old slice of life-comedy in a school setting with each chapter featuring Hitomi interacting with a couple of friends she made that serve as our supporting cast. Only 15 chapters have been out so not a lot of characters have been introduced, but I have hopes that it maintains its charm. I will be updating the review as more developments occur. We also have a great stable of supporting characters now - the ridiculously cosplay-positive teacher makes several reappearances that just happen to allow for some fan service, and the gaggle of delinquents are still causing trouble, mainly for themselves. But hey, who cares? If there’s one thing that really injects pure joy into my veins, it’s a good running gag and the absolutely stupid roasted sweet potatoes bit that keeps showing up throughout the volume and escalates more and more every single time had me in stitches. It’s so, so dumb, but the concept and execution are absolutely perfect. When Najimi, Komi and Yamai visit the Tadano's home on the last day of summer to study, Hitomi greets them and thanks them for hanging out with her brother. She is confused at Najimi's apparent change in gender, and wonders if Yamai is Tadano's girlfriend, but is most perplexed by Komi, and drags her brother out into the hall, incredulous that he managed to convince Komi to visit. She hangs with the group as they study, and brings them drinks to share [3]. To keep up the cosplay trope, a teacher introduced last volume is now a recurring character who ensures all the rest of the characters always have season-appropriate costumes available. This one is one of the least offensive ones, which means it has to distinguish itself in other ways and this volume continues the minimally service-y (well, in comparison) antics and the overly sweet developing romance between our two leads. Usami might be a touch dull, nothing new there, but he and Hitomi still make a cute couple.

Yes, there are jokes about her chest size. There’s one dud involving a catsuit that is just ridiculous and definitely reminds me of the lame jokes from the first volume, but a lot of them are clever. The entire relay race is just great. It’s really got the balance of fan service to other jokes pretty much spot on at this point. Usa's sister, Koaru, is from the same room as Hitomi, however, Koaru has a huge fetish for Hitomi's voluminous and strong body, including her strong yet soft abdomen Nor is Hitomi, or anyone around her, interesting or likable enough to carry the rest of the humor for anyone who isn't specifically into this dynamic. Her sharp, uncomfortably toothy grins and constant unintentional glower may be funny the first couple times, but after the fifth or sixth iteration of the gag, I would have preferred having a greater sense of who she was as a person rather than see her solitary personality trait repeated ad nauseum. Yuu is such a potato that it's hard to think of a single adjective to describe him. He's… nice? I guess? By the end of the volume there are hints at some relationship development, but circumstances surrounding it kind of makes it hard to feel invested.

In contrast to her older brother, who is usually seen as "extremely average," Hitomi is an energetic and eccentric girl. Unlike her more self-conscious brother, Hitomi is not as concerned with what others think, doing odd things such as introducing herself via rapping and not being embarrassed by it. Because of her cheery nature, she is well-liked among her peers. The most visible influence on Hitomi-chan, outside of current trends, is Azumanga Daioh. Chorisuke Natsumi's art bears a noticeable resemblance to Kiyohiko Azuma's own, particularly in how he draws faces and especially with Yuu. Hitomi is something like a more extreme version of Sakaki, who appears tough due to her height and taciturn nature, but is really just shy and loves cute things. Although this is definitely an established character type by now, and not strictly confined to Azumanga Daioh, certain jokes, like Hitomi's failed attempts at befriending neighborhood cats, seem lifted straight from the older series. The gags are even paced like a four-panel comic, even though the format is that of a typical manga – looser and more freeform. Hitomi briefly visits Tadano's school maid cafe, as she had some free time, no sooner had she entered she saw Tadano in a maid outfit. Slightly unnerved, she snaps a picture of him and promptly leaves, phoning their mum, declaring that he really is "like that" (presumably transgender, or otherwise non-standard). She later uploaded that photo to the cloud, so it could exist forever [4]. Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics ( She is constantly rated as super strong and athletic, she can even throw humans [1] several meters away without problems [2]), Fear Manipulation ( Hitomi's presence and looks are scary and can make people and animals run away [3], some people have thought that she was the man-eating woman [4]), Empathic Manipulation ( Her boobs are so soft and good [5] that even the ones who were scared of her [6] started to love her [7]), Madness Manipulation ( She's so scary that people can feel the Death itself after being stared by her [8]), Afterimage Creation ( She can even create afterimages by movements alone [9]), Aura ( Hitomi can emit a creepy Aura around herself [10], her aura is really powerful [11]), Natural Weaponry ( Her teeths are comparable to a shark's teeth [12]), Extrasensory Perception ( Hitomi can sense people's Aura [13]) Comic Natalie (in Japanese). Hitomi makes a first, non-physical appearance when Komi accidentally calls Tadano with her new phone. After the call, Tadano screams out of their apartment that her voice sounds beautiful, as Hitomi tells him to keep it down [1].

While the premise has been done to death in many other manga, Hitomi-chan has a certain charm of its own. The character design of the MC is pretty unique and likable. The overall art and other character designs are hit or miss most of the time though.
