In our ray tracing synthetics, the 3090 Ti beats out the 3090 by a larger margin than that card does against the 3080 Ti, a welcome sight considering the price jump over those already ludicrously expensive GPUs. Add the more mainstream RTX 3080 into comparisons and you can see that the 3090 Ti has about as much of a gap between it and the two next best as those two do over the 3080. Right off the bat, you can see the 3090 Ti taking the expected lead over its predecessors, putting to bed any doubt that it is the absolute best consumer graphics card available. The real question though is by how much. That said, for such an intimidating card on the outside, once we had it installed in the rig, it barely made a peep, even during the most intense scenarios. It’s powered by the NVIDIA Ampere architecture, which doubles down on ray tracing and AI performance with enhanced RT Cores, Tensor Cores, and new streaming multiprocessors.

It's powered by Ampere—NVIDIA's 2nd gen RTX architecture—doubling down on ray tracing and AI performance with enhanced RT Cores, Tensor Cores, and new streaming multiprocessors. Plus, it features a staggering 24 GB of G6X memory, all to deliver the ultimate gaming experience. If the RTX 3080 Founders Edition was already completely overkill for multiplayer games like CS:GO or Rainbow Six, the RTX 3090 is well past the point of just showing off. Like the RTX 3090, Nvidia also touts the 3090 Ti as a card capable of 8K gaming. While I don’t have an 8K display to test native 8K, I used Nvidia’s Dynamic Super Resolution feature to render at 8K and then downscale to 4K. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti enables all 84 SM present on the GA102 silicon, which works out to 10,752 CUDA cores, 336 Tensor cores, 84 RT cores, 336 TMUs, and 112 ROPs. The RTX 3090, in comparison, has 82 SM, and the RTX 3080 Ti has 80. NVIDIA also bolstered the memory sub-system. It now uses 21 Gbps-rated GDDR6X memory instead of the 19.5 Gbps memory on the RTX 3090 and 19 Gbps memory on the RTX 3080 Ti. You get 24 GB of memory, much like the RTX 3090, which should help with creative applications that deal with large data sets. If you recall, although the RTX 3090 launched alongside the RTX 3080, it wasn't regarded NVIDIA's "flagship" product, as that was the RTX 3080. Instead, the 3090 enjoyed a "halo product" status because of its 24 GB of memory for creativity applications.Fin array is populated by 30 microfins with 0.6mm wide microchannels that provide optimal cooling performance, without unnecessary flow restrictions or clogging hazards. Dual BIOS gives you the choice to prioritize for full performance in GAMING mode or low noise in SILENT mode. RTX 3090 Ti | GA102-350 | 8nm | 628mm² | 28.3 BT | 10752 CCs | 336 TMUs | 112 ROPs | ⠀84 SMs | 1865 MHz | 24GB | 2048MB x 12 | GDDR6X | 384-bit | 1008 GB/s | 450W⠀⠀ As a top-floor-with-a-view kind of card, the gaming performance of the MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Suprim outpaces any other GPU we've tested to date, and not always by a small margin. In some of the titles we tested, like Red Dead Redemption 2, the RTX 3090 was more than 20% faster than the RTX 3080 Founders Edition in 1440p, though that gain dipped to just 12% in 4K. We can't say how much extra juice MSI has imparted into its RTX 3090 over other models just yet, since Founders Edition RTX 3090 cards were in short supply from Nvidia during the RTX 30 Series launch and PCMag didn't get the opportunity to test one. The new PCI Express 5.0 12(+4)-pin 12VHPWR connector, can offer up to 600 watts. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, on the other hand, will always come with an adaptor for three 6+2 pins connectors to that new 12VHPWR connector. MSI GeForce RTX 3090 SUPRIM X 24G

Built upon two decades of award-winning graphics cards, the time to evolve beyond Gaming has come. A new design philosophy takes shape to pave the way for a new prestigious series. MSI has done a great job with their cooler. In our direct heatsink shootout against the RTX 3090 FE, it won by a small margin, which is a great achievement; the RTX 3090 Founders Edition cooler is one of the best we've ever seen. Noise levels are minimal. Even with heavy gaming loads, we measured only 31 dBA, which is almost whisper-quiet. Hard to imagine for a card in this performance class, but it's true. This makes the RTX 3090 Suprim X the quietest RTX 3090 we've tested so far, quieter than even the EVGA FTW3 Ultra. Temperatures are higher, though. However, I find 80°C a perfectly acceptable trade-off for the super-low noise levels. Should you want lower temperatures at higher noise levels, you can switch to the "Gaming" BIOS, which runs a more aggressive fan curve. In that mode, you're getting low temperatures of 71°C, but noise levels are higher at 34 dBA—still good. This is a nice dual-BIOS implementation because it gives you meaningful choices. NVIDIA introduced fan stop on their Founders Edition with Ampere, which means all board partners are expected to adopt this crucial feature, too. Outside of gaming, the fans on the Suprim X will shut off completely for the perfect noise-free experience. Legacy titles, like multiplayer games, are more of a flex than anything else for cards at the level of the RTX 3090...but that doesn't mean we still don't want to see it roll its sleeves up a little. I’ll be comparing the RTX 3090 Ti against the 3090 and 3080 Ti, the only other graphics cards in remotely the same realm of performance and price, as well as the RTX 3080, to give a more mainstream point of comparison. For our benchmarks, all tests are set to Ultra settings unless otherwise noted. While striving for the SUperior gaming experience, our PRofound journey across decades took us to destinations previously thought IMpossible. Across years of high-performance circuit design, MSI is proud to bring its latest masterpiece to life. SUPRIM is the next leap in graphic cards design. As a top-floor-with-a-view kind of card, the gaming performance of the MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Suprim outpaces any other GPU we've tested to date, and not always by a small margin.
