Benadryl Allergy Liquid Release Capsules contain cetirizine dihydrochloride which is an antihistamine that helps relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. It can also be used to treat skin reactions that include urticaria (also known as hives) where the skin looks blotchy, with white raised wheals (bumps)surrounded by redness. Do not give this medication to a child younger than 2 years old. Always ask a doctor before giving a cough or cold medicine to a child. The steady - state peak plasma concentrations is approximately 300 ng/ml and is achieved within 1.0 ± 0.5 h. No accumulation is observed for cetirizine following daily doses of 10 mg for 10 days.
