Stay tuned in to Wargamer for coverage of all the latest Warhammer Fest 2023 news, including the big reveals from Warhammer The Old World, Horus Heresy, and awesome community stories from across the event. Nevertheless, we have 10 models here Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Warrior Starter Set – Sprue B – Vindictors Now, whether or not you like painting scenery is another matter entirely. It’s one of those things that divides the community: some people love doing it and setting up impressive displays and photographs with their plastic terrain, or setting it up on the tabletop to make their battles look all the more realistic. With the divider set to one side, all that was left was to look at what lay in wait beneath it. Namely, the dice, range rulers, bases, and books. The remaining Vindictors charged and the final Gutrippa was assaulted on all sides by stabbing Stormcast spears. However, the Vindicotrs could only score a single wound on the Gutrippa, who was unable to score any Wounds in his part of the Fight Phase.

You’re a painter, modeler, or wargamer who already has a Stormcast Eternal or Orruk army you wish to expand; Easily the model I’m most excited about, the Marrowscroll Herald is a fabulous hero piece, and the first bit of Flesheater goodness we’ve gotten in quite some time. Like the other models in the series, he’s phenomenal to look at, and his massive fanged weapon looks like it’s going to do terrible damage to his enemies. I’m hoping that what he’s heralding is the return of the Flesheater Courts, and a battletome that will finally make them viable in 3.0. Since we have a guarantee that a new Death tome is coming in the Fall, and they’re the only ones left, I think it’s a pretty good bet. In the meantime, however, this glorious piece will be a fun project for any true sons of Bretonnia, or anyone feeling a bit ghoulish, while they wait for their triumphant return. Grimhold Exile Painting the inside of the robe with the figure attached to the base will be almost impossible. Make sure you don’t glue the Lord-Imperatant to the bit of stone he’s standing on so you can remove him to get to the inside of the robe better. The battle matt is a nice edition though and is a far cry from the fold-out paper you get with the other sets.In their turn, the Kruleboyz lost their momentum and failed to even hit a Vindictor. In their half of the Fight Phase, the Vindicitors did similarly, but responded with due force in their turn in the next round, scoring a Mortal Wound and an additional Wound on the remaining Gutrippaz, killing one more of their number. The problem is, it’s just not all that impressive. Games Workshop produce some incredible and detailed scenery for use in their games, and and at the end of the day, it is just a cardboard box. The Mat

With three Celestar Ballistae set up as objectives, we set up our armies. After some rolled dice, it was decided that the Stormcast Eternals would be getting the first turn. Each moving 5″ after the Shaman and succeeding on their high Charge rolls, the Vindictors all closed on the Swampcalla Shaman and Pot-grot. A bloodbath ensued. The Warhammer Community team is – unsurprisingly – made up of people who are quite into Warhammer. It’s not unusual after a long day of work concerning little plastic warriors, for us to toddle home and set up at our painting stations to continue spending time on Warhammer. Marks against it are twofold: the first is the scenery tray thing. As I said in my summary of the Warrior review, printing the cardboard tray to look like scenery is a clever idea, but there remains something a bit weird about it. Perhaps it’s the fact that the rest of the set is of such high quality – the excellent books, the wonderful miniatures – that playing on a wobbly card box just feels a bit wrong.

The Shaman went first, trying to strike the Lord-Imperatant with an Arcane Missile. Unfortunately, he did not meet the casting value and the spell fizzled out in his hand. The Movement Phase saw the Hobgrots and Gutrippaz shuffle forwards, ready for the next two phases.

Much like the reference sheets, the Warscroll and Alliance Ability Cards are easy references for the figures in the set. I’ve long enjoyed the delusional, tragic degeneracy of the Flesh-eater Courts, but never quite found the opportunity to start an army. Jerrion’s Delegation let me nab all the core models, plus the new Marrowscroll Herald – and what a model it is! Hobgrot Slittaz: These malicious little brutes delight in eviscerating the foe with their slitta-knives and employing explosive devices pilfered from their duardin paymasters. These models come supplied with 10x Citadel 25mm Round Slotta Bases. This is an issue with push-fit figures. One thing some people have suggested doing is shaving a millimetre or so off the very end of the joining peg using a sharp hobby knife or some sprue cutters.Praetors: Praetor retinues are among the finest bodyguards in all the realms, linked to their ward at an arcane level. These models come supplied with 3x Citadel 40mm Round Bases. Having playtested the Warrior Starter Set successfully in the previous review, it’s time to move on to the Harbinger playtest. There aren’t any objective markers – or even things you could use as objective markers – provided in the Warrior starter set. Also, given my aversion to painting scenery, and the fact my copy of Cursed City remains untouched, I discovered I don’t actually have anything I could use as an objective marker, either! The comparison above is quite crude and as such unfair. Especially in regard to Dominion value. But that’s because we have stripped this down to the barest of comparisons here, a single model divided by the cost of the set. It seems like a bit of a blunder on behalf of GW. The battleplan designed to teach the use of high ground can’t actually involve any high ground.
