Using just four AA batteries you can power the Zoom G1 Four for up to 18 hours of use. Alternatively, you can power the multi-effects unit via USB or an AC adapter. Other Great Features When the effects are bypassed the volume knob becomes a pitch adjustment control for the tuner. However the signal is still affected by the volume setting. You just can't change the volume. The native presets were not particularly pleasing, mostly this is a bold distortion for schoolchildren. But no one bothers to set up exactly the sound you need. There are tons of videos on youtube with instructions on how to set up the sound of a particular group. Looper for recording up to 30 seconds / 64 beats of CD-quality audio with seamless start and endtimes The Zoom g1 four is very different from the previous models, the sound is much better, the drum machine patterns are more interesting.

The default programs range from the not-so-subtle to the bizarre and amusing. However it's easy to create your own programs. A program can contain up to 5 internal effects. Many of the internal effects are emulations of specific standalone pedals. For example, there are emulations of the Tubescreamer ("TS Drive", Klon ("Gold Drive") and Zendrive. Don't let the eccentric default programs put you off. There are plenty of usable effects in this pedal. Stay Looped In The built-in looper can record up to 30 seconds of playing, allowing you to create dynamic, multi-part arrangements. It's the same price as a single effect pedal, yet it contains dozens of effects. Most of the effects sound really good. If you want to experiment with lots of effects to find the ideal sound for a song, this is a convenient and cheap way to do it. Zoom has long provided small form factor, working class multi-effects that shout value. The G1 Four is no exception. But news flash, this device sports a much improved interface to offset the large number of menus and variables. The new display and buttons remove two levels of complexity for the user, appealing to my need for simplicity. The interface software is a wonderful, Additional Improvement. So, a user can take full advantage of the range of adjustments in a visual format. The individual effects, amps and cabs are standard things, but faithful to the mainstream. This device is perfect for creating outputs that are reminiscent of hit records from the past. I run mine directly from the stereo output into a Yamaha mixer stereo channel. The mixer connects to a dual amp/speakers for good stereo separation. The Zoom G1 Four is the heart of my guitar sound for my recordings and small live gigs.BUT: It is by default set to "amp" output mode and it does NOT have a global switch to change to "mixer" or "headphone" mode (!!??). So you have to trigger a cryptic "microphone" feature in the cabinet simulation to get a decent sound when playing via the livingroom stereo or even listening to it via headphones (!?) I mean, you can do that, but you have to do it for EVERY patch you use. Okay, no problem so far, but you need to inform the customers about that. I guess most of the time the device is gonna be uses in a livingroom or with a computer or a DAW or headphones. Not with a "real" cabinet. Learned about that "microphone" mode from the interent. On power supply and connection. The pedal is powered by AA batteries, power bank, usb or power supply. PC connection via micro-usb. There is an aux. Your Favourite Amps and Cabinets With 13 classic amps and cabinets like Fender, Marshall, Orange and more*, the G1 series brings big stage sound wherever you go. Looper for recording up to 30 seconds / 64 beats of CD-quality audio with seamless start and end times As with any digital amp modelling pedal, the sounds coming out of this box aren’t especially suited to a valve amp and this isn’t going to replace your high-end “boutique” pedal board, but for a fun and practical practice tool, the ZOOM G1on is unrivalled for this kind of money.

It's quite affordable, especially at the current price of 67 euro. With that, I have to say build quality is acceptable, but I would avoid stomping it with my feet (as I'm a heavy guy). Not sure how it would hold up outside of the bedroom. Cannot give it more than 4 stars for build quality.Looper feature for the recording of up to 30 seconds / 64 beats of CD-quality audio with seamless start and end times Drums Included! Play along with 68 great-sounding rhythm patterns in different time signatures, including 4/4, 3/4 and more. The only negative thing I would say is the plastic shell seems a little too light and likely would not hold up to heavy use. It should be fine with proper care.

Another improvement over such units as the Multi-Stomp series by Zoom is that this unit also provides a resource monitor in the software, which shows how much memory a patch uses, unlike the MS70-CDR or G1on, where the user has no indication that a patch is using too much memory until he or she is alerted that memory resources have been exceeded. There are 3 different ways the unit can be powered: with a micro USB charger, with a standard 9V PSU, or with 4 x AA batteries.Off the Floor The G1 FOUR/G1X FOUR’s control panel is also designed for hands-on, desktop use. Dial in tones and adjust level settings with absolute precision to craft your perfect sound. but man is it good enough do a live gig with and even record an album. There's just way too much you can do with this little thing for such a cheap price. There's plenty to explore in the G1X Four with over 70 effects to play with. You've got your classic effects such as overdrive, compression, and fuzz; but you also get crazier effects like ring modulator, pitch-shifting delay, and sitar simulation. There are 50 different memory locations on the Zoom G1 FOUR which you can use to store your own patches. The pedal also has an auto save function for automatically capturing all of your patch parameters.
