Description

Wharfedale on kehittänyt DIAMOND kaiutinmallistoaan jo lähes 30-vuoden ajan. Viimeisin aikaansaannos on palkittu ja kriitikoiden ylistämä Diamond 10 -sarja, joka nostaa korkean suorituskyvyn omaavien kohtuuhintaisten kaiuttimien riman pilviin. Low Profile Chassis: The open nature of the chassis reduces reflection from rear cone movements, allowing air to move freely through the driver, which in turn results to an overall even response with a much lower distortion. Formed from a high density, injection-moulded polymer pioneered by Wharfedale, the chassis itself provides substantial damping of ring waves.

Aesthetically, they have a good wife-pleasing characteristic with their curved cabinets - they are quite a nice looking speaker as far as it goes. This was a factor in my choice, I must admit. The Wharfedale Diamond range speakers are a truly iconic collection. With almost three decades of critical acclaim, international awards and millions of fans worldwide, you can rest assured that a Diamond speaker will deliveruncompromised quality. Once the company settled down and moved into further development, it produced the then new Diamond 8 series in 2001 which triggered a steady improvement process to the Diamond 12 series I’m looking at today. CHINA The current Issue of Stereophile Magazine (though it may not be on-line yet) has a review of the Wharfedale Diamond 225 that is generally positive, and ends with the speakers being "Highly Recommended". They have also previously reviewed the Diamond 10.1, which got a rave review, and the Diamond 10.7 which also got a very good review. I believe S tereophile also review the Wharfedale JADE 7, and gave it a very positive review. Strings are full and slightly warmer, acoustic guitar strums have more body and resonance, cymbal taps have great weight and so on.The bottom line here was balance but balance that maintained the essential impact from the performance. This music has soul. It had spirit and passion. The Wharfedales egged you on. Go on my son, they cried! CONCLUSION

Sure, that might mean that the Diamond 12.1s may offer a touch less dynamic reach in upper mid terms but, quite frankly, when you hear the Wharefdales you’re not thinking about that at all. You don’t hear anything missing here at all. You only hear the added bass, the well-developed nature of the musical presentation and the extra layers of detail on offer. The Diamond 10.1s areaward-winningand outstanding medium-sized bookshelf speakers, as much an aesthetic triumph as an acoustic one, delivering precise and dynamic full-range audio and an ideal companion to a wide range of systems. Construction The discerning audiophile will also note the diamond pattern moulded into the surround of the woven Kevlar cone. This is more than just cosmetic as the pattern reduces and damps standing waves in the surround yeilding a cleaner high frequency acoustic roll-off.If I can compare the Diamond 12.1s to amplifier designs for a moment, the musical presentation is similar to the Audiolab 6000A and the Rega Brio-R. The latter provides a measure of bass but puts most of its efforts into the mids and treble, excelling in both while only asking the bass to underpin the mids and treble. The 6000A asks bass to be a full partner, in sonic terms, so that treble, mids and bass offer equal emphasis. The Diamond 10.1 is based on the hugely successful 9.1, while showcasing a number of impressive improvements. Most notably, the cabinet of the 10.1 has been redesigned with greater internally braced curved sides. This ensures that the cabinet walls are protected from bending or flexing while in use so you can enjoy a crystal clear and immaculately pure performance. High-Calibre Construction Size of a speaker can sometimes become an important decision factor due to space constraints or in some cases purely for esthetic reasons. In this section, we are going to compare Wharfedale 12.1's and Wharfedale 12.0's external dimensions. Wharfedale 12.1 has external dimensions of 312.0 x 180.0 x 278.0mm ( 12.2 x 7.0 x 10.9inch) whereas Wharfedale 12.0 has external dimensions of 265.0 x 160.0 x 228.0mm ( 10.4 x 6.2 x 8.9inch) . A redesigned tweeter produces cleaner and smoother high frequencies thanks to the extra diffuser grille while the mid-bass driver gives natural sound at all volumes. The magnetic grille ports means there are no unsightly peg holes exposed when the grille is removed. Performance You can also find slightly more refined tweeters in the price group directly above the Diamonds. The Diamonds do provide a very smooth high end response that slopes slightly downward. And they have great in-room dispersion that allows for a strong and stable sound stage with real depth. But there are speakers available for a few hundred more that offer even greater detail with slightly rising response curves.

They are what they are and they do what they do, but they are not what they are not, and they don't do what they don't do. But these are a different proposition from their bookshelf siblings, and if you're committed to floorstanders, you won't go far wrong at the price with the 10.3s. So it all depends on which ones people, as you say, are referring to. The upper Wharfedale ranges like Jade, Opus, Evo and Diamond are outstanding audiophile class speakers. Then there is the real junk like the Zaldeks. The speaker itself has a sensitivity of 88db but only needs an amplifier of around 20W to get going. Spanning 312 x 180 x 250mm, it weighs in at 6.8kg each. The Q Acoustic 3020i speakers are broadly similar in terms of how they compare to the Wharfedales. Yes, the Q Acoustics provide a slightly warmer comparison than the Bronze 50s but the Wharfedales give the sound poise. The Wharfedales infuse the music with charisma.

The treble unit and mid/bass driver handover is done via a crossover network using an acoustic LKR 24dB topology; this includes air-core inductors of the type claimed to be more commonly found in high-end designs. Modus Six-Also very detailed with kind of a muddy midrange but got the job done, definitely better for music.Their current range includes Reva, Denton, Diamond 11 and Diamond 200 series, D300 and vintage-look Heritage speakers as well as the newer bluetooth DS-2 speakers and Vista 200 subwoofer. If you're looking to get a conservatory, pool or outdoor area set-up, we also offer a range of outdoor speakers and our custom install speaker range includes weatherproof and splashproof speakers suitable for such applications. I've been very satisfied with how this little system handles music. Even in "Direct" and "Pure Direct" mode where the subwoofer is by-passed - these little bookshelves seem to go down quite low for most needs. I think they would be hard to beat at their price point. And what hit me first? Tonal balance! Tonal balance all over the place from the Diamonds. It was quite an event.
