When you buy from a leading secateur maker you’ll be able to buy with confidence and own a tool that will give you years of service. World of Felco pooled some of our resources with Sunshine Garden Centre, which combined with the online-nature of the business gives us a lower cost base. We pass the savings on to you. The business has since grown to include the sale of other garden products under the World of Garden Products umbrella.

Plants that flower in the spring generally should be pruned immediately after flowering, unless the plant is diseased or damaged. Flower buds on spring-flowering plants develop on the previous year’s growth. Therefore, pruning before flowering would remove considerable amounts of flower buds, sacrificing flower display." Some examples of spring-flowering plants include rhododendron, flowering cherry, dogwood, forsythia, magnolia, spirea, and viburnum. The brand recommends cleaning after each use to prevent rusting and help maintain the luster of the blades and handles. To avoid corrosion or to unjam the tool, the company also advises oiling after cleaning. Every model of Felco Secateurs (besides the F31 Anvil model) features two blades for bypass style cutting. One of the blades is razor sharp and this is called the cutting blade; this blade bypasses the second blade (which is called the anvil blade) to make the cut in the same way a pair of scissors would. This has been proven to be the very best of way of producing a clean cut. We asked Brian Feldman, Sr. Director of Technical Operations at TruGreen, about the best time to prune plants. He said, "Timing is a very important consideration. Plant knowledge and identification is required before establishing the proper time to prune. If timing is wrong, flowering and fruiting can be sacrificed." Comfort for users, high quality materials and easily interchangeable parts and spares are what set Felco secateurs and pruning shears apart from other manufacturers. Felco manufacture a comprehensive range of quality secateurs that are suitable for all pruning tasks. Whether you are a new gardener right through to a professional vineyard worker, Felco have a product that will meet your requirements.Carbon blades will keep an edge to them longer (less time between sharpening) and are less prone to snapping when under pressure. These pruning shears are designed with the serious gardener with medium to heavy duty use in mind and with these secateurs it is easy to see why they probably the most coveted pair of secateurs around. These pruners have a pulley mechanism that greatly reduces the amount of force you need to exert to cut through branches, making them a good choice if you have a weak grip or painful hands. The maximum cut capacity is 3/4-inch so these can handle most common pruning tasks. They are a good size for the average hand but might be a bit large if your hands are very small. These are very reasonably priced anvil pruners, but note that a few customers complained that they broke while in use. Still, the majority of buyers were pleased with the pruners and felt that they performed well. Using bypass secateurs on large, dead material and you could end up damaging them. Using bypass secateurs on this plant material will also put strain n your joints and tendons.

Pruning can be tiring work, especially to your hands and wrists. To offset that, many brands have pruners that are designed specifically to reduce the effort needed to squeeze the pruner blades closed and then reopen them. Notably, The Gardener’s Friend Ratchet Pruning Shears are specifically designed to be easy to use, even for those with sore or weak hands. Springs that help to reopen the blades are common, but some pruners take it further with ratcheting mechanisms that help decrease the force required to squeeze the blades together. The Essential range has been manufactured with Felco's core brand values in mind but on a budget. The Essential secateurs offer the user comfort, lightweight and exceptional cutting performance without breaking the bank. Ved nagling af underklingen på det udelte varmsmedede aluminiumshåndtag sikres det, at dit FELCO-værktøj er robust nok til kraftig beskæring

The Model 2 secateurs are solid pruning shears. The razor sharp, strengthened carbon steel blades give a crisp, effortless, clean cut through stems, roses, shrubbery and light branches. Plants that flower during summer months should be pruned during the winter or early spring before new growth begins. Flower buds develop on the new year’s growth, so it is important not to prune new growth before flowering." Some summer-flowering shrubs include hydrangea, glossy abelia, rose-of-Sharon, and roses.Hårdførhed og ekstrem driftssikkerhed sikrer – takket være konstruktionen med varmsmedede aluminiumshåndtag og hærdet stål – at du kan gå til alle beskæringsopgaver med fortrøstning Riveting the counter blade onto the one-piece forged aluminium handle ensures your FELCO tool is robust enough for heavy-duty pruning While this is undeniably an investment, the years of excellent performance in your garden, as well as comfort in your hand, will make the F2 one of your favorite gardening tools. The best pruners have aluminum handles, usually with a coating of a rubbery cushioned material to provide better grip and cut down on hand fatigue. However, less costly pruners, as well as gardening snips, often have plastic handles.

Anvil pruners have a grooved stationary blade and a sharp cutting blade that comes straight down into the groove, creating a clean, crushing cut that is especially good when you are pruning dead twigs or small branches, but can also be used to prune living, woody stems. Anvil pruners are not the best choice, however, for slicing through soft, green stems; you want your bypass pruners for that job. We especially like this 8-inch anvil pruner from Gonicc, which has carbon-steel, chromium-plated blades that stay sharp. The handles are aluminum with a soft, rubbery grip for comfort.

With anvil secateurs, the blade comes down and meets the anvil to create the cut. Think of a crushing action. Reliable: Comfortable, light, sturdy handles made of forged aluminium with a lifetime guarantee* / blade and riveted anvil blade made of high-quality hardened steel / clean, precise cut / all parts can be replaced. Brian Feldman, Sr. Director of Technical Operations at TruGreen, says the most important thing to consider when choosing a pruner is the type of plant material it will be used on. “Hand pruners with bypass, scissor-like cutting action are best used on live plants with small twigs, stems, flowers, and shoots. Anvil-type pruning shears are popular for trimming off dead twigs, branches, and limbs. These shears chop rather than cut. If you are cutting large branches, then lopping shears, not pruners, are the right choice.”
