About this deal

isn't SFX, it's SFX-L. None of the other SFX and SFX-L makers stoop to this level of bullshit marketing, TT. No other company does this "well technically it's all officially SFX" because they understand that the extra 25mm makes or breaks SFF builds.Yep, this is pretty terrible marketing wise. Looks like a good PSU (though of course that can't be judged from specs alone), but being clear about its form factor is a pretty basic requirement. Then again, this is Thermaltake. Their slogan might as well be "There is always something wrong with our products". Primary side: Half-Bridge & LLC Resonant Controller Secondary side: Synchronous Rectification & DC-DC converters Toughpower SFX series is fully compatible with Intel ATX 3.0 Specifications which supports up to 200% power excursion, reaches 70% low load efficiency and complies with required power supply timing standards. high quality Japanese 105°C/221°F capacitors provides great durability as well as offering the highest stability, while remaining reliable. During a power interruption, your computer might shut down or reboot. We make sure the SFX series will deliver at least 17 ms at 100% workload, without system reboot or resetting.

We tested this power supply and it was not only able to deliver a continuous 750W, but it almost delivered 790W before it shut off safely. This is very reassuring to see and we recorded a long run at 770W load without any problems or potential shut down issues occurring. Oct 16th 2023 Thermaltake Unveils Its First Ever Bumblebee-Colored Product in The Tower 200 Mini Chassis Series (19) Photography for this review is completed inhouse with a Canon 1DX MK2 with 50mm f1.2 Prime lens and a Leica S series medium format camera with S series prime lens. Please do not use any of the images within this review without express permission. Investing in one of the best 750 W PSUs will ensure that your computer runs smoothly and efficiently without issue. These power supplies offer enough juice to power upper-midrange components while still being affordable enough for lower-powered rigs that want to upgrade headroom. So it’s a great sweet spot for many users. Corsair are using Great Wall as the partner for this particular power supply design. The layout, construction and overall design is very similar to the SF600 model in the range which we had a look at before. All of the electrolytic capacitors inside are Japanese made, which is good to see – especially as Corsair claim this in their literature. The primary bulk capacitor is made by Nippon Chemi Con rated for 470uF, 420C and 105C.Phanteks has just launched its all-new Evolv Shift XT expanding ITX chassis and Revolt SFX series power supplies. The Evolv Shift XT takes a fresh approach to small form factor builds with its adjustable height. Three configurations are possible depending on the amount of cooling you need or desire. Designed with a native PCIe 12+4 pin modular connector, the Toughpower SFX series is built for next-gen PCIe Gen 5.0 graphic cards, and is fully compatible with Intel ATX 3.0 specifications. The fully modular Toughpower SFX series comes in 1000 W, 850 W, and 750 W, and is built to deliver 80 PLUS Gold efficiency. The compact size of Toughpower SFX Gold series perfectly fits in any ATX or ITX case. The 90mm fan is hidden behind a metal grill on the top of the unit. We will get a closer look at this shortly when we open the power supply.

KitGuru says: If you are building a high end gaming system inside the SFX platform then this should be right at the top of your list. An Unprecedented 750 Watt SFX PSU: Harness 750 continuous watts in SFX form, perfect for the most power-dense small-form-factor PCs. Powerful single +12V rail can properly deliver the power you need for the best compatibility. The use of LLC and DC to DC circuit design provides very stable operation and enhanced voltage regulation. Individually Sleeved, Fully Modular Cables: Flexible paracord sleeved cables make routing and cable management incredibly easy. The Evolv Shift XT’s innovative design allows the chassis to extend its height to tailor the cooling performance to your need. In “Compact” mode, the Evolv Shift XT can house systems with up to 324mm long 3-slot GPUs and 72mm tall CPU coolers that have direct access to fresh air. In “Air Boost” or “Liquid Cooled” mode, the height can be increased from 32mm to 60mm respectively for further hardware compatibilities like adding 2x 120/140mm fans (Air Boost) or a 240 AIO Liquid Cooler (Liquid Cooled) for the best possible performance. Compatible with both the latest Intel SFX 12V 3.42 and ATX 12V 3.0 standard and designed with native PCIe 12+4pin modular interface. We take the issue of noise very seriously at KitGuru and this is why we have built a special home brew system as a reference point when we test noise levels of various components. Why do this? Well this means we can eliminate secondary noise pollution in the test room and concentrate on components we are testing. It also brings us slightly closer to industry standards, such as DIN 45635. Not cheap actually... just high margin, larger sizes does make life easier on BOM costs.Honestly, SFX-L is perfectly reasonable even at that cost for 1000W. It is possible to make a 1000W SFX unit, but it would take pretty much the best possible components today, and would still struggle with cooling and having sufficient bulk capacitance to support ATX 3.0 power excursion specs. Today to test the power supply we have taken it into our acoustics room environment and have set our Digital Sound Level Noise Decibel Meter Style 2 one meter away from the unit. We have no other fans running so we can effectively measure just the noise from the unit itself.

Today we take a look at one of the newest power supplies from market leader Corsair – their new SF750 SFX Platinum. Previously the SF Platinum series shipped in only 450W and 650W capacities, so this new high model will appeal to the hard core enthusiast user looking for a high wattage small form factor supply. This supply also features a larger 92mm fan, rather than 80mm and it has a ‘Zero RPM Fan mode' to reduce noise output under lower load situations.SFX power supplies always have to make sacrifices in regards to fan noise, and thankfully Corsair have taken some clever steps forward to alleviate this potential headache. They have adopted a larger 90mm rifle (normally 80mm) bearing fan inside this supply, and thanks to Corsair's Zero RPM system, it does not spin at all under lower or even normal load situations.

As the power consumption of graphics cards has increased, so has their demand for power. The SFX series is designed to support NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards, ready to supply the graphics card according to their different ways of connections. The fans audible noise is nearly silence at 100% operation. This creates the perfect balance between silence and superior cooling. Furthermore, with the Smart Zero Fan, the fan will not spin until the load exceeds 30% of the power supply, minimizing the fan noise. The Corsair SF750 is an SFX power supply – and not one of the many extended units we have seen in recent years – its only 63mm x 125mm x 100 mm (HxLxW). We like the box artwork for this power supply, all the key points are listed along the bottom at the front of the box, along with a quality high resolution image in the middle. At 788 watts, the efficiency level measures 91.6%. Not a practical situation to be running 24/7, but worth noting. Electrolytics: 1x Nippon Chemi-Con (4-10,000 @ 105°C, KY), 2x Rubycon (3-6,000 @ 105°C, YXG) Polymers: Nippon Chemi-Con (G61B, G8, G84R, G84G, G85F), 6x Nichicon (LG)
