Cotton: It's by far the most popular sheet material, and with good reason. Cotton is soft, durable and feels the most luxurious against your skin. Best Flannel Sheets: The Garnet Hill Hemstitched Supima Flannel Sheet set performed better than any other flannel set in our test. It's made of 100% cotton and is brushed on both sides to trap warmth and provide ultimate softness. In fact, it earned a perfect softness score from sleep testers. It pilled easily, which is typical for flannel fabrics but was fairly strong in our durability evaluations. Combed cotton refers to cotton fabric that has been treated to remove all the short fibers during the manufacturing process, leaving a very smooth fabric.

Egyptian cotton is the most luxurious variety. This is is the choice if you want super-soft, high-quality bed sheets. Grown in the warm, dry climates of North Africa, Egyptian cotton has extra-long fibers that create the softest, smoothest fabric. As such, flannelette is a firm favourite for bed sheets as it is warm and snug, perfect for keeping you warm at night. This makes it ideal for winter bed linens as the weather cools, while still retaining the breathable qualities of regular cotton. 2. Polycotton percale Upland cotton is native to the Americas but is now the most commonly grown cotton in the world. Its fibers are not as long as Pima or Egyptian cotton, so it’s not as soft as those varieties. Most cotton sheets, unless they specify otherwise, are made of Upland cotton, especially if they are bargain-priced. Tencel/lyocell: As a regenerated cellulose fiber, these fabrics have a luxuriously silky feel that also feels cool to the touch with excellent moisture management capabilities.

Pima cotton is also known for its softness and natural sheen. It has medium- to extra-long fibers that are ideal for bed sheets. This cotton is primarily grown in the southwest of the United States, along with a few other locations. Each cotton fabric provides a degree of durability, breathability and moisture absorption. Some also offer wrinkle resistance, which is ideal for no-fuss bed linens. There’s also a wide range of colours, from classic to bolder shades. Polyester: This fabric costs less than cotton, plus it's more affordable, shrink-resistant and wrinkle-resistant. Polyester sheets feel super smooth, though not as luxurious or crisp as cotton. You can also find cotton and polyester blends, which typically feature more cotton than polyester but give you the benefits of both materials.

But thread count doesn’t necessarily mean better quality. This is often a misconception, as bed linens with a 200-thread count can offer a great quality product at an affordable price.

BROWSE OUR RANGE OF SHEETING FABRIC

Cotton is one of the most commonly used fabrics for bed sheets and it’s not difficult to see why. This material is soft, durable and breathable, making it the ideal fabric for a great night’s sleep. But how do you choose the best cotton sheets for your bed? Our polycotton Sheeting Fabrics are composed of 50% cotton and 50% polyester for the utmost comfort at affordable prices. If you require a little more luxury in your bedroom our Cotton Sheeting range is 100% cotton and luxuriously comfortable. Our Sheeting Fabrics are also useful for lining your curtains, reducing light absorption and improving insulation. Any drapes lined with our Sheeting Fabrics will ensure a restful night's sleep. Jersey cotton is often described as t-shirt cotton. It has a slightly stretchy, soft texture which makes it ideal for fitted bed sheets, and it’s also very easy to clean. However, the composition of the jersey is thinner than other kinds of cotton and therefore less durable. As a result, over time there may be pilling on the fabric. What thread count is best for cotton bed sheets? You do not need to change any settings on your printer when printing off the fabric sheets. The only exception is the silk fabric. It is a good idea to lighten up your images before you print onto the silk to make sure not too much ink is injected into the fabric. This should not make a difference to the quality of the print. Thread count is a term used to describe the number of threads per square inch of the material. This is also made up of vertical and horizontal threads. This means a high thread count bed sheet has more threads within this small space compared to a lower thread count.

Silicon mat – For the chocolate fabric, you need a clean silicon mat so you can peel the fabric easily. Thread count refers to the number of yarns in a square inch of fabric, but it shouldn't be a major factor when deciding which cooling sheets to buy. In Good Housekeeping evaluations, thread count did not correlate with performance, but when shopping for 100% cotton, single ply weaves, our tests found that 300 to 500 is ideal.

Not only are our Sheeting Fabrics perfect for your bedroom environment, they are particularly useful in other areas of your home as well. The ideal base for all of your textile projects, our Sheeting Fabric is perfect for tablecloths, cushions, beanbags and more.

The weave of polycotton percale is tighter than regular cotton bed linen, which makes it highly resilient. It’s usually around a 50:50 mix, so it shares equal benefits from both materials. Alongside cotton’s breathability and durability, polycotton is also wrinkle-resistant. Polycotton percale is usually less expensive than 100% cotton too. 3. Egyptian cottonAs a bonus, making your bed is much easier thanks to clever tabs labeled "long side" and "short side" on the fitted sheet. The brand offers a lenient any-reason return policy for an entire year, so there's little risk in trying it out. The fitted sheet is 15 inches deep which should be generous enough to fit most mattresses, though it may be a tighter fit on taller models or beds with mattress toppers. Rayon, viscose or lyocell: These are called "regenerated cellulose" fibers because the raw material is some type of plant, which gets chemically processed into a fiber. Rayon is the umbrella term, and viscose and lyocell are types of rayon. They stand out for feeling incredibly soft; in fact, they're usually softer than cotton, though they're typically thinner and less substantial. The overall factor in deciding which thread count is best for your bed sheets should be quality. No matter the count, high-quality cotton will feel soft and luxurious against the skin. Best Brushed Sheets: The Parachute Home Brushed Cotton Sheet Setis ideal if you want the softness of flannel sheets without the warmth. Its fuzzy texture gives it a cozy feel that the brand describes as feeling like "your favorite lived-in T-shirt." It also was more durable than flannel, and testers liked how soft it was compared to traditional percale fabrics.
