Bull elephants, particularly those in musth (see below), sometimes drape their trunks over their tusks. This is almost always an attempt at intimidation and should be interpreted as such – those new to elephant behaviour should take this as a sign to move out of the male’s way. By 12, CORNBREAD was writing his name all over the city. While we certainly saw earlier examples of people writing things on public property — most notably "Kilroy was Here" — he was amongst the first to do it with flare. I love seeing street art and visiting areas in a city that capture some wonderful urban graffiti. Usually these are found in the up and coming areas of town, where rent is cheaper and there is more freedom of expression to be found everywhere. In the Mission District of San Francisco just off Valencia and 18th Street is a colorful graffiti alley called ‘Camp’ for Clarion Mural Alley Project. If your into colorful and fun street art, you have to visit the cool Graffiti at Clarion Alley, San Francisco Why visit Clarion Alley in San Francisco? By 1969, CORNBREAD says there were hundreds of active graffiti writers. Collectively, they were all contributing what would be known in both Philly and New York City as the "single hit" era which preceded the introduction of spray paint by several years. At that time, the name of the game was frequency over artistry.

A charming tale of young love unfolded as he boldly spray-painted "Cornbread loves Cynthia" along their daily path. In a sea of Cynthias, his unique message added a captivating twist. The narrative took an intriguing turn when Cynthia's house became a canvas for his affectionate proclamation. CORNBREAD was no longer just a name; he had evolved into a legendary enigma, captivating the heart of the city.CORNBREAD was going viral decades before that term was invented. His legend about who, what, where, when, and why he was writing his name serves as a pre-cursor to contemporary artists like Banksy. On one occasion, CORNBREAD opened the newspaper and it stated he had been shot to death in the head on 40th and Filbert Street. The term Graffiti was originally a reference to ancient inscriptions. These could be words or figure drawings found on the walls of ancient sepulchers, public buildings, or ruins.Ancient Graffiti can be observed in the Catacombs of Rome or at the ruins of Pompeii. Graffiti became a thrilling competition of one-upmanship, driving artists to explore the possibilities of spray paint's boldness. As others took note of the impact of spray paint, CORNBREAD set his sights on hard-to-reach locations, fueling his quest for media attention.

With his rising acclaim, CORNBREAD transitioned from markers to spray paint, marking a significant evolution that would forever shape the graffiti landscape. He inscribed his name in spray paint, transforming city walls into vivid and electrifying masterpieces. Why the obsession with elephants, though? He gives a suitably elusive answer: “The elephant is the king of the jungle. In Africa, elephants break trees, create expanses of land that make it possible for animals to hunt,” he says. He later admits that he never reveals the true reason: “I have different stories for different people. It is too personal, and I don’t share it....” During the apartheid years (1948-1994), Falko witnessed segregation at close quarters. “The art of graffiti was restricted to a small area of Cape Town, and there was no mixing between races. Art was our entertainment and something constructive for us to do and stay out of trouble. Post 1994, we could mix with the white kids, and graffiti developed rapidly as we pooled our collective knowledge of art,” he says. Los Angeles, USA: Los Angeles has a strong hip-hop culture, so it should come as no surprise that Graffiti culture is also prominent around the city. La Brea Boulevard, Culver City, Melrose Avenue, The Arts District, and Venice Beach are just a few of the places you can see exceptional street art around LA.

Graffiti is still a predominantly public and urban art form. However, recently, Graffiti artists and street artists such as Banksy and the artist Alec Monopoly, who is behind the infamous Richie Rich artworks, – have exhibited their graffiti-style paintings commercially in gallery and museum spaces.
