Our catalogue is hosted by the University of Exeter. To search through our collections, go to ‘advanced search’ and narrow the location to ‘Devon and Exeter Institute’. books providing an overview of a specific subject, such as The Earth, Planets, Twentieth-Century Britain, Contemporary Art. ​ Items can be reserved either online using your library card and PIN or by visiting your local branch. Most reservations are free.

The library also houses the first FabLab to be located within a public library in England. FabLab Devon is a community creative space that provides access to a range of digital equipment and machinery. If what you’re looking for is out on loan, you can reserve your item for a smallcharge and we’ll let you know when it’s ready to collect from your local library.

Our eMagazine service is what you need. And if you’re a regular reader you need to know about a change that’s coming up from Friday 1 stSeptember.

The Business and Intellectual Property (IP) Centre, where you can access information and attend business events and workshops to support your business or start up. A large online reference library of subject dictionaries, encyclopaedias and companion guides published by Oxford University Press. ​ Our collection of manuscripts can also be found on the National Archives discovery database, which is browseable here. Items that you already have on loan can be renewed online using your library card and PIN, please have your library card or the barcode number of each item to hand The South West collection uses a unique classification system, designed by Professor W. G. Hoskins.Our library collections are also listed on Jisc Library Hub Discover, which is available to search here. The largest English language dictionary available, tracing the history and meaning of more than 600,000 words. There is a large children's library overlooking Rougemont Gardens and a separate teen area, as well as 34 computers which are free to use for up to 2 hours per day and printing and copying facilities.

Youth Hub Devon – a service helping 16-24 year olds into employment and training. This service is run by Devon County Council. Thousands of biographies and portraits of the people who shaped the history of the British Isles and beyond. ​ An online business information resource that contains over a thousand small business factsheets, guides and sector-specific reports. This resource is one of a range of services provided by the Exeter Library Business and IP Centre. ​ The library houses a wide selection of books and audiobooks that can be issued using the self-service machines. You can also request an item from another library for a small charge if you can’t find what you’re looking for. We have a Local History section in the reference library if you want to learn more about the local area.In the bright and colourful children’s library we run regular Bounce & Rhyme sessions on Wednesdays during term time. For adults there is a weekly Keep Calm and Colour In group on Tuesdays, 1-3pm and Keep Calm and Yarn held weekly on Fridays, 3.30 - 5.30pm. The eMagazine offer on Libby will expire on Saturday 30th September. This means there will be an overlap for everyone to get used to the platform. After that time, eMagazines will only be available through Borrowbox.
