Description

The storm raged for solar minutes that seemed eternities, and then fell away into hurricane winds. They blew over a world forever altered. The continent of Cadia Tertius was gone, obliterated by fire and drowned beneath howling seas. The Krian Fault, bane of the continent of Cadia Tertius since the Age of Strife, had ruptured one last, fateful time, and the planetary crust split apart. Social class on Cadia was dictated by military rank, which in turn lead to the upper echelons of command within the Cadian regiments to be highly classist - importance being placed on being from a military family or one's bloodlines as well as military competence. [9d] [9a] The grit and determination with which Cadia was so valiantly defended for all those millennia has long been lauded within the Astra Militarum. The professionalism of the world's soldiers remains influential, not only as inspiration to fuel lurid trench-line tales, but also through tactica penned by Cadian generals that are studied in regimental academies. Rare demobilised regiments of Cadians, granted rights of settlement on worlds they conquered for the Emperor, instill Cadia's legendary discipline into their new societies. The Imperialis Militia was not a coherent, galaxy-spanning organisation by any means, and, except in times of great emergency, was not subject to the chains of command of the Imperial Army. Rather, each was a colonial defence force raised from a planet's own populace and its commander-in-chief was the Imperial Commander of the world it defended. Some were ancient martial classes with their roots in the Age of Strife, while others were irregular levies activated only in direst need, and in most cases the template of command structure and hierarchy imposed by the Imperium's Principia Militaris was adhered to only in its generality. The standards of equipment and pattern of accoutrement of individual Imperialis Militia regiments were just as varied. Some wore gaudy dress uniforms or burnished plasmesh chainmail, others furs and hides, while some few might be clad in advanced armour such as local pattern semi-powered Carapace Armour. Each militia's kit was dictated by the culture, environment and technological base of their homeworld, and so also was the diversity of their weapons, within a minimum standard issued them from the Principia Militaris Command.

Within the Eye of Terror, the Chaos Gods rule over uncounted numbers of planets, all warped to reflect their own dark aspects. It was there that the Traitor Legions found refuge, isolated from the rest of the galaxy by potent Warp Storms. Each of the planets within the Eye is a Daemon World, warped and twisted by the whims of the Ruinous Powers and the powerful Daemon Princes who rule over them in the Dark Gods' name. The skies themselves burn, and we burn with them, yet we fight. This is our planet and ours alone."

While one of the main factions of 40k’s 10 th Edition are the Space Marines, they couldn’t be the heroes of the story without the Tyranids, specifically Hive Fleet Leviathan. The Hive Mind sent some reinforcements so that the Tyranids can stay on the offensive after winning the Battle for Oghram with a new Battleforce – including the new Big Boi™ of the Nids. A defiant force of key Astra Militarum units, including Cadian infantry and the armoured might of two Rogal Dorn tanksTartarus Planetary Defence Force - The Tartarus Planetary Defence Force defended their homeworld of Tartarus when it was besieged by Orks sometime during the 41st Millennium. At one point during this conflict, multiple different factions clashed on the planet which included the Orks, the regiments of the Imperial Guard, the Chaos Space Marines of the Alpha Legion, the Eldar of the Biel-Tan Craftworld, and the Space Marines of the Blood Ravens Chapter.

The idea of Astra Militarum on a Budget came from the live chat on this blog – thanks, whoever you are! And yes, that live chat is me. It’s not a bot! I get a lot of this…

Although Cadia was ultimately reduced to a burning wasteland by Abaddon's assault, the worlds in the wider Cadian System fought hard to destroy the spearhead the Despoiler had plunged into their midst. The Great Exodus of Cadia had seen swathes of the Imperial defence redeployed to the sister worlds. [11] The Cadian Pylons created the unusual area of realspace stability known as the Cadian Gate near the Eye of Terror that was unaffected by the constant Warp Storms that surround that Warp rift. Cadia's location directly adjacent to the dangerous Eye of Terror made it necessary for the people of Cadia to fortify the planet to an extent where almost the entire population lived in massive fortress-cities known locally as " kasrs." HQ: Leman Russ tank commander (battle cannon, lascannon, multi-melta sponsons, heavy stubber) 245pts

A Heavy Weapons Team with Autocannons is 52p for point. Over double the cost per point from a Defence Force. And a regular Chimera is 34p per point on its own – again more than 25p per point from the Defence Force box. The Leman Russ battle tank is the dumpy AK47 of the tank world. It comes with a bajilion weapon options, but either the standard battle cannon or the demolisher cannon are the best choices for the main turret gun. Multi-melta sponsons are also particularly entertaining against enemy armour and heavy infantry, but cost a bunch more points than a pair of good ol’ heavy bolters. For the hull gun, I tend to favour the lascannon due to the builds that make sense on the infantry squads (again, see the Sneaky Build Tips). This box also contains transfer sheets for you to customise your miniatures. You'll find 4x Cadian Infantry Transfer Sheets which contain 597 high-quality waterslide transfers each, as wlll as 1x Astra Militarum Vehicle Transfer Sheet containing a further 475 transfers.

Astra Militarum – Cadian Defence Force

As the Warp and its foul denizens claimed the remains of the Fortress World, Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed arranged an evacuation of the planet that saved 3 million of its citizens before the planet finally ripped itself apart -- though not before Creed himself mysteriously disappeared. The Chimera is GW’s hilarious parody of America’s Bradley AFV, which is pretty much a self-satirizing vehicle in the first place. It’s a transport tank covered in anti-infantry guns, and is nifty for lobbing an infantry squad at distant objectives without them being as in danger of being blown away before they reach their destination. This is a useful thing for smaller-medium armies in particular. Sneaky build tips Bury your foes in a relentless tide of claws with the Onslaught Swarm, one of the most terrifying assemblages of Tyranid monstrosities ever stuffed into a box. A massive Norn Emissary joins up with a Winged Hive Tyrant – which can also be built as a ground bound Hive Tyrant or Swarmlord – to lead a tide of 20 leaping, scything Hormagaunts and 10 ravening Genestealers, with a pair of Ripper Swarms to boot. Exalted of the Red Angel Cadian Regiment - The 203rd Cadian Regiment fought beside the 2nd Company of the Ultramarines Chapter that was commanded by Captain Titus during the Imperium's liberation of the Forge World of Graia during the events of Space Marine. The regiment's remaining forces were commanded by 2nd Lieutenant Mira. In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising.
