Description

The PUS8506 uses Android TV 10 as its UI, and while it hasn’t jumped across to the newer, fresher Google TV interface as yet (and we’re not sure if it will be upgraded in the future), the improved design of Android TV ensures you don’t feel too left out. In any case, Android TV 10 offers Chromecast for streaming and Google Assistant for voice control, and unlike last year’s TVs, all the major apps are available in their 4K HDR/ Dolby Atmos incarnations. HDR Personal is brighter still, but offers a distinctly cooler image, with a bluey tinge that we found off putting and overly stark.

Google Assistant is available on Philips Android TVs running on Android O (8) or higher OS version. Google Assistant is available in selected languages and countries. The PUS8506’s interface is a combination of Philips’ and Android TV 10. Throw in Freeview Play and all the UK catch-up apps are catered for. While Sony has graduated from Android to the new Google TV interface, it seems Philips is taking a wait-and-see approach. The Philips 50PUS8507/12 does not feature QLED technology. QLED technology uses quantum dots to enhance the color and brightness of the TV. While QLED technology can produce excellent picture quality, it can also be expensive. Ambient Mode I have fewer qualms about the PUS8506’s performance than I did the previous model. While there are still areas for improvement, this is a much more consistent performer. Sound quality The Philips 50PUS8507/12 comes with a two-year warranty covering any defects in materials or workmanship. This warranty ensures that you can enjoy your TV without worrying about any issues that may arise. VS Other Brands The Philips 50PUS8507/12 has a powerful 20W speaker system, delivering clear and immersive sound. The TV also supports Dolby Atmos, which creates a more immersive sound experience by simulating a 3D audio environment.

The brand of product you buy can vary in importance, from person to person. Some people will of course be much more particular about the brands they will use. Whilst others aren’t interested in the brand and are more interested in the overall quality or price of the product itself. Thankfully Philips is a brand that many customers have grown to love over the years and is very popular for items in the Televisions category. The Philips 50PUS8507/12 50-Inch 4K LED TV is an excellent choice for gamers, thanks to its fast 60Hz refresh rate and low input lag. This means games feel responsive and smooth, with minimal lag or stuttering. The TV also supports AMD FreeSync technology, which helps to reduce screen tearing and stuttering. Viewing Angle You’re going to need to tweak this Philips TV to get the best from it, and those settings menus go on… and on… These terms refer to the number of pixels that make up the image on the screen. So, 4K screens offer four times more pixels than HD screens, with 8.3 million pixels working across the screen. This makes for more detailed and accurate images. Here's a list of the most common ones when looking for the best 50-inch smart TVs.While the Philips 50PUS8507/12 does not offer 8K resolution, Philips does offer 8K TVs for those looking for the latest and greatest technology. 8K Resolution offers even more detail and clarity than 4K, with four times the number of pixels. However, more than 8K content currently needs to be available, so it may not be worth the investment for most consumers. HDR Technology The Philips 50PUS8507/12 50-Inch 4K LED TV is a mid-range television set from Philips, one of the world’s leading electronics companies. It offers a range of features and specifications designed to deliver a high-quality viewing experience, including 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. In this review, we will take a closer look at the technology, features, design, picture quality, and sound quality of this television set. Technology As per usual, Philips’ out of box settings need tweaking but not as much as the PUS8545 required. The slight frustration is that, despite the various picture modes this Philips offers, there’s no one mode that you can hang your hat on and use across most content. This TV offers various connectivity options, including 4 x HDMI 2.0, 1 x Satellite In (F-type female), 1 x 3.5 mm Audio Out, 1 x CI+ 1.4, 1 x Antenna (RF) (female), 1 x Optical Audio Out, 2 x USB 2.0 and 1 x Ethernet RJ45. Can I mount Philips 50PUS8106/12 TV on a wall?

Sporting a 16:9 aspect ratio and a high-quality VA panel, this TV delivers stunning visuals and vibrant colors. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) Its mid-range price should tell you this, but there are some compromises to be made in picture quality, mostly with HDR footage. In particular, shadow and highlight detail can be lost in the very darkest and lightest areas of a picture, and overall peak brightness could be brighter. The answer to this question is very much a decision arrived at after deliberation between your available space, budget and requirements. However, it tends to be sensible to have the smaller TVs in smaller rooms, and larger ones in the biggest rooms. We do, and it remains a big strength in Philips’ corner. The three-sided Ambilight here works wonders with TV, movies and games. Don't buy it if...

It’s exemplified by Philips’ Movie mode, which is the most colour accurate but with certain content looks flat, bland, and overly dark, and with others looks punchy and vibrant. Iron Man 3 (SDR) looks understated, but in Natural mode it is punchier. High Dynamic Range smart TVs have a wider colour palette - over a billion colours compared to a few hundred thousand available on non-HDR screens. More colours mean more accurate pictures, vivid colours and better contrast and shadow detail. Dolby Vision is Dolby’s version of HDR and HRD10+. OLED and QLED Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits)

The Philips 50PUS8507/12 does not feature MicroLED technology. MicroLED technology is a newer technology that uses millions of tiny LEDs to create a more detailed and vibrant picture. However, MicroLED technology is still in its early stages and can be expensive. QLED Technology The Philips 50PUS8507/12 is an excellent TV with great value for money. It produces excellent picture quality and comes with a range of features that make it a great addition to any home theater setup. While it may not feature the latest technologies like OLED, MicroLED, or QLED, it still produces a great picture at a more affordable price point. The TV is future-proofed and compatible with future devices, thanks to its HDMI 2.1 ports and eARC support. Recommendation: The first is brand. Looking at the brand of the product is often a really good indicator for judging product quality. For example you’d expect a much higher quality product from a brand known for providing excellent quality than you would from an unknown or even a budget brand.
