It was 1963 and I was head over heels for a girl at my elementary school. She turned me on to The Beatles and we both commiserated when President Kennedy got shot. I walked her home from school that day. Born in New York City in 1952, legendary musician, composer, and record producer Nile Rodgers has been a powerful force in the pop music industry for over four decades. Best known for his work as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the band Chic – which helped shape the disco movement of the ’70s – he’s also celebrated for his numerous collaborations with notable artists like David Bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran, Daft Punk, and Lady Gaga. Prepare to be dazzled by an enthralling winter wonderland, filled with sparkling lights, festive sounds, and mesmerising installations – making for an unforgettable experience for all the family. This is the all-time heavyweight champ of musician biographies for me. Having known Miles and his no-nonsense inability to edit himself, I can see the man, the child and the innovator in every paragraph. Miles takes you on an in-your-face journey more outrageous than any you've ever travelled. Before I read this book, I worshipped his musical genius. This bold and revealing book validated my eternal devotion to the man himself. 2. Hit Men: Power Brokers and Fast Money Inside the Music Business by Fredric Dannen

Speaking of the upcoming album, McCabe said it was "great to reconnect with Ian Broudie", and that working with Chic legend Nile Rodgers was "an amazing experience" which "gave me a confidence that I've never felt before making a record". In 2011, Rodgers released the autobiography Le Freak: An Upside Down Story of Family, Disco, and Destiny, which charts his experiences growing up in New York City, his struggles with drug addiction, and his rise to fame in the industry. The book offers an intimate glimpse into the roots of modern pop, and the life and times of one of the most influential musicians of his generation. Dave has been through an awful lot in the last few years, and these things have obviously really impacted him. But his songwriting has only got better. Now he spends more time on his songs. He's in touch with his own and others' emotions, and that all goes into the songs. It has been so nice to watch him grow. I'm so proud of him," said Harding. The book has a detailed discography and a record of his performances that I found almost textbook-like – not a bad thing because there doesn't seem to be a lot written about him. The cast of characters is a virtual Who's Who of innovative musicians – and in this crowded pool Dolphy stands out. 8. He's a Rebel by Mark Ribowsky Ah, the partying. Must confess I don't exactly feel like my sense of partying and Nile Rodgers' have tons in common. He allegedly spent a few years of his life in a stall in the women's bathroom of Studio 54, meting out cocaine to all comers. But there's no denying that the guy did party hard. Daft Punk Release Random Access Memories (Drumless Edition): Stream The re-release arrives at the 10th anniversary of their final studio album In celebration of the memoir’s release, Rodgers sat down with The Guardian to recommend ten of his all-time favorite books on music. “If you look at my book,” he says, “it’s really about my life: music just happens to be a large part of it. And the books I love are also about people’s lives – all of the titles I’ve chosen offer real insights into the personalities behind the music.” His childhood was very hard to receive as cavalierly as he shared it, however when it came time to him sharing his music, there are three words that come instantly to mind. Oh – My – God!

He’s a Rebel by Mark Ribowsky “Phil was the creator of the famed Wall of Sound, and a genius hitmaker. He had a difficult childhood, which seemed to be a direct result of his father’s early death. When you read about the massive number of hits he made it’s almost mind-boggling. The discography at the end of the book puts his work in perspective.” -NR Category: Biography & Autobiography - Personal Memoirs; Biography & Autobiography - Composers & Musicians; Music - Popular With over 200 production credits to his name, including Let’s Dance by David Bowie, Notorious by Duran Duran and Like a Virgin by Madonna, his work has sold over 200 million albums and 50 million singles worldwide. Daft Punk have released Random Access Memories (Drumless Edition) via Columbia Records. The re-release, which has removed all drums and percussive elements from their final studio album, arrives at the 10-year anniversary of the 2013 Grammy-winning Album of the Year. Stream the album below. It’s an awe-inspiring reading list for any budding musician, not because the books chosen are brightened by the huge stars they cover but because Rodgers’ selection is so intelligent. He not only selects from the aforementioned heroes but also looks at producers like Phil Spector and Berry Gordy as well as books on the industry itself such as Hit Men: Power Brokers and Fast Money Inside the Music Business by Fredric Dannen. Due to high demand advance booking is essential. Trail entry is available in 10 minute timeslots. The Christmas Village will be available to enjoy before and after the trail, including rides and food and drink outlets. Nile Rodgers has kind words for EVERYBODY in his autobiography. For his Chic partner Bernard Edwards with whom they traveled so far together, for Andy Warhol, with whom he shared an emergency room, for his grandmothers Goodie and Lenora, their boyfriends (one of whose was a convicted killer, while another gave him his biggest "high" ever when he tuned his first guitar), for his often not very well behaved siblings, for his mom Beverly, for her boyfriends and lovers, he even has good things to say for (yet another) convicted killer who raped his mother. Confession: I haven't read this book but am using it as a way to highlight something very interesting I saw about him.

A relaxed trail session means the trail will be adapted to suit those with additional needs such as autism. For example, strong flashing lights, loud sound effects and smoke effects will be temporarily deactivated. Now this "review" is two-fold. First, I can't think of anyone who loves music who wouldn't be interested in an interview/look at Nile and the little nuggets he talks about regarding his career, producing the likes of Diana Ross and Madonna. The episode presenting the end of the competition does just that. Through his inspiring keynote presentations; The evolution of Ideas and The Power of Creative Collaboration, Nile Rodgers explores not only his insanely successful career, but also his fair share of personal obstacles that he has had to overcome, from addiction to cancer. What do you get if you multiply the year that Dodie Smith released a novel that would be adapted as a film by Disney five years later, by the number that features in that book's title?Due to high demand advance booking is essential.
