Then, I remember middle school. I had absolute 0 people I considered friends. Was it to my own ego, or was it just because I didn’t fit in? I don’t really know. But I remember having a very old phone with pirated songs on it. It was a difficult day, so during recess, I hid behind a sofa in the hall, put my earphones on and hit “shuffle” on my saved songs playlists. Immediately, “Alpha” started playing. And I remembered how much it calmed me down for the rest of the day, all of the worry was washed away in a second… The ARIA Report: Week Commencing 3 July 2023". The ARIA Report. No.1739. Australian Recording Industry Association. 3 July 2023. p.6.

Kyoto: This is another song that doesn't play ingame, but the bells and woodwind sounds would fit well anywhere. Alpha” is a medley of past songs. It acts as the score that plays when you “beat” Minecraft, but it also acts as a celebration of past music from Volume Alpha. Chirp”, which is where we switch to the records you can find in Minecraft as collectibles. Until we get to…Disc 1 features music heard in the games menus, and during gameplay, including extra music only heard in the games' Nether world and Creative mode. The big difference of Volume Beta is that the tone is both more positive and at times very dark. Some of the songs even have percussion, which is something that was a complete rarity with Volume Alpha. For example 'Taswell' or 'Aria Math'." [1] A very possible reason why "Ballad of the Cats" has that title is because the sounds of ghasts are distorted recordings of C418's cat. [7] At 4:00, a variation on the melody from "Key" plays on the pan drums. A very similar variation on the same melody can be heard in "Mall".

Haunt Muskie”, if I remember correctly, an anagram for Hatsune Miku. Not entirely sure why anymore, but there you go. This song is very nostalgic for me, and I didn’t expect anyone to like it but just me. It turns out it is a little bit popular though. There was this fairly old video game I used to like. Some game where you solve puzzles of broken rollercoasters you have to fix. The music wasn’t particularly good, but the emotion it carried was something I always remembered. “Haunt Muskie” is what I remember that music to be. At the climax of this piece, a pulsing, one-note synth ostinato suddenly appears from the drone and is overlaid with a half-tempo rendition of the song "Sweden", which greatly increases in volume until the melody is overtaken by the choir and it abruptly stops with a motif from "Subwoofer Lullaby" and echoes out. A sequel to "Moog City" from Minecraft - Volume Alpha, with a grander scale and a more dramatic tone. The big difference of Volume Beta is that the tone is both more positive and at times very dark. Some of the songs even have percussion, which is something that was a complete rarity with Volume Alpha. For example “Taswell” or “Aria Math”. Aria Math” is a song full of Pan Drums and old synthesisers rhythmically dancing to ping pong delays. It’s also one of the creative mode songs. I wrote it with the beauty of the more extreme creations in Minecraft. Gigantic statues, entire cities, paintings, people, all recreated in this game. It’s awe inspiring, and that’s what I wanted to kind of symbolise. Not sure if I succeeded? Moog City 2” is a recreation of “Moog City” from Minecraft Alpha. However this time I actually did use Moog synthesisers, along a lot of other synths that I acquired over the course of making this album. The mostly ambient album has a generally darker tone than its precursor. [6] Rosenfeld admits that the record is "extremely varied", being "much more percussive, melodic, and progressive" than Volume Alpha. [9] The average song on Volume Beta is far longer than its predecessor [4] – at the time of the album's release, it was Rosenfeld's longest ever work. [10] A calm, underwater-like piece of serene music being played on a soft, chiming keyboard synth sound.
