Description

For an Aeldari army, the centrepiece has to be the Avatar. He may not be as big as the Wraithknight , but he is your focal point. He should really sit in the middle better than anything we’ve had before. Wailing Doom - Each Avatar of Khaine carries a mighty weapon in the form of a spear or a greatsword, known in the Aeldari Lexicon as the Suin Daellae, the Wailing Doom. This massive blade is many feet long, and shrieks as it tastes mortal flesh, wailing and crying and hurling murderous bolts of psychic force as the Avatar strides to war and reaps a brutal tally at close quarters. Upon its surface, ancient Aeldari Lexicon runes writhe as they struggle to escape from their bondage as if tortured by the heat of the Avatar's grasp. The Wailing Doom is no mortal weapon, but the manifestation of a dark and sinister god -- a part of the Avatar imbued with his divine power.

Khaine is one of only three surviving gods of the Aeldari in the wake of their Fall. In the old Aeldari Pantheon, he was second only to his brother, the Phoenix King Asuryan, in power, and was usually depicted as the enemy of Vaul, the god of smiths and crafting. The Avatar also has access to some impressive auras – aside from his general sense of style and presence, of course. The mere presence of their war god will drive nearby Asuryani into a bloody-handed battle-rage, but you’ll need to wait for Codex: Aeldari to arrive to get the whole story. For those familiar with Khorne, there are too many similarities to deny an association between the Blood God and the Lord of Murder. Those who defend Khaine claim Khorne is limited to battlefields and open war. Khorne is a Ruinous Power, a being of Chaos rather than being one of Elves' many Gods. But the effect of Widowmaker on the Elves, to say nothing of the profane practices of Khaine's most devoted servants, the Witch Elves, are all clear indicators of some association. To the Dark Elves, there is a distinction. They deny, even unto themselves, that they serve the Blood God. They suggest Khaine is no different in scope and power from those same deities embraced in the Old World. [1a] In the depths of the Warp, the beings of pure psychic energy created within the Immaterium during the turmoil of the War in Heaven would feast on these feelings and grow to sentience, setting into motion a chain of events that would close the Path of Rebirth for Aeldari souls forever. The Aeldari live on the brink of extinction. As such, their Farseers have become adept at reading future events, seeing the many strands of fate ahead of their people and the consequences of following each one. Taken at the right time, a simple action can avoid calamitous outcomes, aiding the Aeldari in their continued struggle for survival. If your Army Faction is AELDARI, at the start of the battle, make a Strands of Fate roll by rolling twelve D6. Anhil - Belleth - Cesse - Druthara - Faonora - Galene - Gryselle's Arenai ( Gryselle - Retaria - Kalexis - Thrialla - Traxya) - Krylla - Selendti Llyr-Xiss - Malekandra - Morathi - Morgwaeth‎'s Blade-coven ( Morgwaeth‎ - Khamyss - Kyrae - Kyrssa - Lethyr) - Rhaelanthe - Shadeborn ( Slythael Shadestalker - Drusylla Viserax - Sylarc Greyblood - Valyssa Umbrael) - Thaelire - Trisethni - Vhorskaya Again, his points will be depending on the rest of the rules in the book, so hard to judge that but he is expensive.

Countless years later, long after Morathi had freed herself from the belly of her nemesis , she aided the new pantheon of aelven gods – Tyrion, Teclis, and Malerion – in ensnaring Slaanesh and slowly extracting the lost souls of their people. For her part in the deed, Morathi demanded a share of these souls. She drew forth the essence of those aelves who had once worshipped Khaine, installing herself as his High Oracle – his de facto replacement. During the events of the Broken Realms , and at the climax of a plan long in the making, Morathi performed a great sorcerous ritual to achieve the apotheosis she so craved, and in so doing, became the deity Morathi-Khaine. A larger unit also allows you to use Rally to its full effect. With each 6 you roll returning a model to the unit, the Daughters of Khaine now have the ability to regrow their numbers and keep spilling blood for their god. Avatar of Khaine

When you look at these two pictures side by side, it really looks like this could easily be the model. The blood effects on the old one are, shall we say, old. When compared to his artwork, the Rumor Engine looks so much more like his piece. The Avatar only awakens in times of need, and dwells for most of its existence as little more than a hollow shell, devoid of life or purpose in the heart of an Aeldari Craftworld. Each Craftworld has its own Avatar, cold and lifeless, seeming merely a charred suit of ancient armour kept within a sacred chamber deep beneath the wraithbone spires and domes. It is a tradition as old as the Aeldari themselves that awakens the Avatar and brings vengeful life into its form so that it might march to war against the Aeldari' foes. Here’s Mark Gibbons’s artwork for the Avatar and honestly it’s pretty awesome. Since GW has been loving to put minis on the base (like primaris lieutenants) this makes even more sense. There have been rumors floating around for a while now about a new Eldar Avatar miniature, and while we like the old one, we would love for it to look more like the picture above. Within the Warhammer Fantasy universe Khaine is worshipped primarily by the Dark Elves and the High Elves. However, in this instance his full title is Khaela Mensha Khaine, with an "h" that is not present in the Aeldari rendering of his name; the meaning of "Khaela Mensha" remains the same. Once per phase, before making a dice roll for a model or unit from your army with the Strands of Fate ability, if you have one or more dice in your Fate dice pool, you can use one of those Fate dice. To do so, select one of those Fate dice to substitute that dice roll. The dice that is being substituted is not rolled; instead, the value of the selected Fate dice is used as if it had been rolled (this counts as an unmodified dice roll of that value for all rules purposes). Each Fate dice can only be used in this way once. After using a Fate dice, remove it from your Fate dice pool and roll all remaining dice that are part of that dice roll (if any). You can use Fate dice for any of the following types of dice roll:

There you have it. The Avatar is a combat powerhouse, more than capable of punching beyond his weight class and able to shrug off massive damage and to fight with all the rage the Asuryani do their best to repress. With the good saves and halving damage, let’s hope you’ll be able to get this monster close before it takes too much damage! This is How Big the New Eldar Avatar Size Actually Is

For an extra 70 points (its now 270), he sees upgrades across his entire statline, with everything getting better (except the WS and BS which were already at 2+) The Avatar of Khaine is proof the Aeldari gods existed and brings the wraith of Khaine to the tabletop. Ben Jefferson: The idea of a daemonic face was something that came later. One thing I really like about this design is the difference between the lava plates and the fiery body itself. Its skin is like magma, while the armour plates are smooth with runic detail. It offers some real textural contrast. Kaela Mensha Khaine, which means Khaine the Bloody-Handed in the Aeldari Lexicon but who is usually referred to just as Khaine, is the Aeldari god of war, wrath, destruction and murder. What exactly happens in the inner sanctum, none knows, for no Young King has ever lived to speak of it. But inevitably, after a few moments, the doors will open again, and the Avatar, fully empowered, will march to war. Of the Young King, no trace, save perhaps the dripping blood on the hands of the Avatar, will remain...
