If there was a factory out there turning out injection molded copies of Franklin-Christoph or Schon DSGN pens I would be of a different mind. There’s room for roughly one sample vial’s worth of ink in the main compartment, with a smaller sealed compartment just behind the feed. Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. As far as the ones Moonman/Majohn has done, I thought the most blatant was actually the Moonman F9, if that's what you meant by ‘worst’ (not by product quality or performance, but sheer brazenness). I turned to Keaton Henson’s collaboration with Ren Ford for my teaching and reading soundtrack last week.

The only difference I can spot is the middle ring that is a millimetre bigger, otherwise the Pilot internal module fit perfectly inside the Majohn body. However, the spring in the end where the nib goes, is too strong and the small guiding square does not help until you push the second part of the barrel down and push them together before you can screw it tight. This should not count towards opinion though, as the seller communicated that they ran out of the specific packaging and offered a choice to wait or ship with a different box. There are plenty of people who like and use moonman pens, and they don't fall apart and have poor nibs in general (shh, don't mention the poor nibs on real expensive pens that we've all read about). But when it comes time to suggest to any individual that they should spend close to two hundred dollars on a pen (in this economy?

For being a clone of a famous pen, I would have preferred that they stayed with the clipless version with a roll stop since that would have been a bit tongue in cheek and answering the many users who hates the clip on the Capless/Vanishing Pilot pen. Months Free Parts Replacement: For your peace of mind we offer you free replacement parts upto 12 months with no extra cost. Well, for one, there are some not too satisfied owners of the Pilot Capless out there who find there nib units not up to satisfaction – some have enjoyed the possibility to add a smooth steel nib. It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc.

The reason for the name change is that Kaweco took offence at Moonman copying their pen (in Kaweco’s opinion) and simply registered the name Moonman in Europe.

Believe it or not, I’ve been really conflicted about the relative morality of supporting knockoff products in the pen industry for a while. The pen came with the standard booklet of instructions and Majohn branding, and also came with quite a handy accessory packet.

However, in a way, jarring is exactly what it can be expected to be, given that implicit in the name change is a big fat "screw you" to Kaweco's antics. You only need to press it lightly with one hand, and the nib will appear, saving you the trouble of screwing the pen cap on and off. No pen holder combined with black metal matte pen barrel, fingers are not bound, free to hold, giving you a more comfortable writing experience.I do hope that sales of the majohn to North America are somehow blocked or unadvertised like they were for the moonman.
