Description

The palate shows peat smoke from the first sip plus an undercurrent of honey, finishing with black pepper heat. Laphroaig 10 gets its distinctive taste from the natural features of Islay, the remote and rugged island off the West Coast of Scotland where the whisky is made. Each sip brings complicated notes of smoke, seaweed, peat and a hint of salt – like a bracing fall day on Scotland's rugged coast.

It is extremely aromatic and pungent - you can always tell when someone is drinking a dram of Laphroaig as you can smell the distinct tarriness from the other end of the room. Since 1815, when the distillery was officially founded on Islay (‘eye-la’), a small team of locals – with tradition in their soul – combined ancient skills, a dedication to quality and the mystical, peaty water of the Kilbride Stream to create what is considered by many to be the most distinctive single malt in the world. This full-bodied variant is the foundation of all Laphroaig expressions and comes with a long finish.Founded on Islay in 1815, the Laphroaig distillery has been creating distinctive Scotch whisky for over two centuries. This is a truly classic single malt Scotch, made from malted barley which is first cold-smoked and then dried over a peat fire. Its distinctive flavour profile is crafted from malted barley, initially cold-smoked over peat fires, a technique mastered by only a select few distilleries.

Hilarious to read the bad reviews complaining that it doesn’t taste as good as bourbons like JD or other piss water American rubbish. A distinctive character that still holds true to the spirit of Ian Hunter, who first created it over 75 years ago. It also has a distilling process which has been developed and refined over the course of 200 years by a succession of passionate master distillers. Ages in seasoned oak barrels that were charred prior to distillation, this dram features lovely oaky notes as well as nut and vanilla and coastal hints.
