Description

Its effective and nourishing formula contains the naturally sourced mineral, zinc oxide, as an active ingredient as well as pure oat essence. My baby and my wee quite sensitive to this we did get a little bit of a red rash so had to stop using it. Great for babies This sunscreen is amazing for babies, it’s easy to apply and doesn’t make the baby want to start crying. Biggest downside is that it does leave a white cast (photos below), so we like to keep some Pipette in the bag too. It’s an amazing product and to date has been the most successful in reducing and calming my grandsons skin. It's definitely one of the best UV-filter agents we have today, especially in the US where new-generation Tinosorb filters are not (yet) approved. From a dermatologist recommended brand for over 65 years, this sunscreen stick can be applied with one hand, and glides on skin for clear protection without the mess. You can see the detailed formula review with the breakdown of all actives in the product and the full ingredient list with estimated concentrations in the tables below. It is a polymer (created from repeating subunits) molecule and has different molecular weight and thus different viscosity versions from water-light to thick liquid.

Sunscreens containing Titanium Dioxide are often hard to spread on the skin and they leave a disturbing whitish tint. It's also claimed to increase the UV absorption of the sunscreen formula as well as to reduce the annoying white cast left behind by inorganic sunscreens. We’re a fan of Aveeno Kids Mineral Sunscreen Stick for Kids - for three key reasons: (1) the stick form factor is great when you’re on the go and you have a wriggling kid, our son actually LIKES it (2) sweat and water resistance means a little more time between re-applications (3) great for sensitive skin.

Note that it is about the size of an adult lip salve in case (like me) you are expecting something bigger. Purely physical sunscreen instead of chemical, and as such it does go on quite white and requires a bit of rubbing to get rid of the white. An emollient liquid that usually comes to the formula combined with C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate and Dipropylene Glycol Dibenzoate as the trio works in synergy to solubilize hard to dissolve sunscreen agents while providing a nice, non-greasy skin feel. Living in Florida and having autoimmune diseases I use sunscreen daily and I’m definitely going to switch to this stick!

Most of what we wrote about Titanium Dioxide is also true for Zinc Oxide so we will focus here on the differences. A clear, colorless oil-like liquid that makes the skin feel smooth and nice (aka emollient) and it does so without it being greasy. The English translation is, so far it looks like sunscreens with nanoparticles do stay on the surface of the skin where they should be.The big difference is supposed to be that chemical agents absorb UV-light while physical agents reflect it like a bunch of mini umbrellas on top of the skin. The convenient stick format is perfect for on-the-go use, and the lightweight formula absorbs quickly without leaving residue. Designed to be both non-greasy and non-sticky, this baby sunscreen is paraben- and phthalate-free and is sweat- and water-resistant for 80 minutes to help prevent sunburn.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. A 2009 review article about the safety of nanoparticles summarizes this, "to date, in-vivo and in-vitro studies have not demonstrated percutaneous penetration of nanosized particles in titanium dioxide and zinc oxide sunscreens". We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. Might help moisturize and protect the skin from free radicals, but mostly used in low concentrations to stabilize other ingredients.INCI is a list of the standardized and internationally accepted names used in the declaration of ingredients on cosmetic and personal care products. Everything else brings her out in a rash but this is mild on her skin but thick enough to feel it’s providing good coverage. It's a physical (or inorganic) sunscreen that has a lot in common with fellow inorganic sunscreen Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) but a couple of things make it superior even to TiO2. I've never broken out from using a sunscreen before, so this was, unfortunately, a new experience for me.
