Besides the fact I can read these sentences coherently, I don’t like a single thing about this story. the main character, Bee Hobbes is a plus sized girl who is ready to lead in a romantic christmas movie with a secret to hide, she has to co-star with Nolan Shaw, a former ex-boyband member who has a secret desire for Bee. All that is to say we had a TON of fun reading this book and highly recommend it to anyone who can suspend their disbelief for 25 chapters. Miss Murphy does not give her readers the vulnerable moment between the characters to connect more deeply. Her costar is Nolan, who is actually a childhood crush of hers - he was in a popular boy band years ago, but now he needs help with his career and money.

The way Nolan is constantly objectifying Bee during his inner dialogue made me want to punch him in the face. I listened to A Merry Little Meet Cute, with Bee’s chapters narrated by Joy Nash and Nolan’s chapters narrated by Sebastian York. I suspect she doesn’t get the level of respect she’s due because much of her work is of an extremely erotic and taboo nature (including one of my all-time favorites, PRIEST, and her New Camelot series where the President, his wife, and the Vice President are in an MMF-ménage).Bianca von Honey: riding adult movie star and ClosedDoors’ most subscribed beauty finds herself in a Holidayflix’s Christmas movie about time traveling English gentleman and a modern girl’s love story who experiences true Christmas spirit as they fall for each other. Nolan is a washed up former boy band member trying to clean up his act so he can earn enough money to support his family. Now, she’s filming in Christmas Notch, a small town with Christmas trees and festive tunes all year round. He’s producing a movie for the pristine Hope Channel, a holiday movie that is being shot over Christmas.

Bee’s (corn actress) co-star is Nolan, he’s a fan of Bianca von Honey, her corn name, so he obviously knows her. I adored their relationship, and I loved how much he worshipped her, I adored how Bee was plus sized and confident, sexy and desirable!After the last epic scandal about his orgy with Olympic skaters, he has to fix his tarnished reputation because secretly working at the back stages of local theater projects doesn’t pay enough to compensate his family’s expanses. It was steamy but I didn’t really feel their connection nor did I really care that they were having sex. The writing style also wasn’t really for me but I could’ve ignored that for layered characters and maybe a different break-up catalyst. And the smut was cringe and sex scenes are written so clunkily I legit can’t believe this was meant to be taken seriously.

Happily, her work at Uncle Ray Ray’s (the adult film production company) is not at all predatory and she has freedom to choose her work and keep her ClosedDoors account (and all the income that generates) without any threat from the owner, Teddy Ray Fletcher. It might’ve taken approximately a month and a half to get to me from the other side of the world, but it was worth every day waiting to hold it! When I found out it was about a corn producer (not the main male character) and corn actress doing their first wholesome Christmas movie, I was like okay this is going to be so good and fun if done right. However, those things are minor in the big scheme of things and A Merry Little Meet Cute is a book I’m happy to recommend. It was such a progressive read from start to finish, too, and I adored that it had so much LGBTQ+ rep.As Bee was looked over one final time by the hair and makeup artists—and Pearl reemerged from a centering meditation somewhere—I popped a breath mint and tried to imagine I was the duke. But it's ridiculous in the same way that a time traveling ducal romance that teaches you the meaning of Christmas is. Sebastian York is someone i’ve listened to and loved many times in the past and this was no exception! Or maybe they did expect that, as Bee was a fan of Nolan back when he was in the boy band and she was in high school, and Nolan is a fan of Bianca. Nolan was successful musician till their Ink Band manager siphoned entire group’s money and disappeared.

Enter Nolan Shaw he’s a former boyband member who was disgraced from Hollywood after one too many scandals back in the day. A Merry Little Meet Cute does fall squarely into the “rom-com” genre however (bearing in mind that humour is subjective not universal).
