This was good stuff, Ant Middleton is an absolute legend and he brilliantly finds a way to blend his own fascinating/often heartbreaking life experiences with the genuine life lessons he's learnt. Even though I don't have children some of his examples, I'd imagine a parent would be able to relate more.

I also found a lot of these self help revelations he made were AFTER the fact he messed up and doesnt seem to have real world basis or evidence that its worked for him. For people who want to get into mindfulness and personal development but have 0 grounds build off of, it’s very very good, covers an array of topics that other books discuss in detail but in a very broad and generally relatable language, not using more technical terms that the lay man may not understand. The book also seems to be very repetitive, not helped by the fact that he starts on one subject area and then disappears off on a tangent.Ant you are a total hypocrite and a violent weak person who is the total opposite of what your books are about. He also seems to be a bit of a hypocrite - there is one chapter where he says that he wasn't around for his kids and then starts to lecture the reader on how to be a good parent - and as I was listening to the audiobook, it really did sound like a lecture. Learning from other people's mistakes is one thing, but trying to make something sound easy when you've failed to do it yourself is completely different. The mind and body are often talked about as separate entities, but it’s only when they work in harmony with one another that one can truly push oneself to the highest heights.And even for me , provided an easy reminder of some of the elements I’ve not thought about for a while. My only complaint is that there is a part that felt like the only reason for its inclusion was for Ant Middleton to justify his reported comments about covid, the Black Lives Matter movement and the reasons behind him “choosing to leave” the telly program. The lessons he echoes are crucial to not just a life demanding physical and mental toughness but generally any meaningful life. A good book to read if you’re finding your place in the world, and I certainly wish it had been around 20-odd year ago. Before you say “why did you read this then” I read this for free on Google and stopped shortly after the start.
