To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. A touch of peat brings a rich and rounded balance of subtle smoky notes with a sweet sherry cask finish. One of only 285 bottles, this Single Malt from Jura was allowed to mature for 12 years in a single refill hogshead cask. Each time you indulge in a pour, you're sharing a dram with the islanders who played a role in crafting it.

A well-balanced entry in the Jura range, made up of both smoky and unpeated whisky matured in bourbon casks and finished in sherry, adding darker notes to the soft smoke and fresh fruit of the distillery's whisky. It now runs at a capacity of 2,200,000 litres per year under the watch of current owners Whyte and Mackay Ltd. Palate Oily and subtly spicy at first, before notes of earthy vanilla pod and chocolate-covered raisins develop. While we have taken care in preparing this summary and believe it to be accurate, it is not a substitute for reading the product packaging and label prior to use.

It really does take a while due to the ever changing flavours which start off full of fruit but then settle into a deeper, pepper taste which compliments the fruit perfectly. This exceptional single malt matures in American white oak ex-bourbon and hand-selected American Rye barrels, imparting depth and complexity. With water it was much smoother, very chocolatey, hints of coffee and black pepper again after a while. Not sure if anyone else got it but this unmistakable tropical fruit/mango finish with a hint of pepper.

Part of the new core range of whiskies launched by Isle of Jura in early 2018, this 10 year old expression takes the place of Jura Origin. Welcome to Jura: A few miles off the west coast of Scotland you'll find our island: remote, sometimes wild, yet always beautiful, home to 212(ish) islanders, one road, one pub and one distillery. It’s got all you want from an every day whisky, chocolate, raisins and smoke, orange and coffee if you add a teaspoon of water. This single malt Island whisky was matured for 19 years in a single ex-Bourbon hogshead, and offers attractive aromas and flavours of shortbread, lemon, and caramel.Light peat, brown sugar and orange on the nose leads to smooth burnt toffee taste, with softer citrus and coffee on the finish. After maturing in mainly American oak ex-bourbon barrels, the whisky is decanted into Jura’s iconic bottle – with its broad shoulders and rounded edges originally designed to withstand rough sea journeys. Just 8 miles long, Jura's single track road stretches from the island's ferry port in the West, right up to the Northeast of our island. The Jura 18 Year Old single malt has been matured in American white oak barrels, and is enriched by time spent in French oak wine casks from a Premier Grand Cru Classe Bordeaux producer. Our boxes are made of 100% recyclable cardboard and our protective honeycomb paper wrap keeps your package safe and significantly reduces our need for plastic.

Jura whisky is made using the crystal clear waters that run off ‘The Paps of Jura’, the tallest mountain range on the isle. All the flavour notes are there but it feels like they’ve been added as some sort of concentrate and that the whisky is a fiery, youthful one which has had this and colouring added to fool someone. If you are looking for a specific bottle requirement it is recommended that you verify with us before making a purchase. I am disappointed as Jura was a good distillery once, but this has non of the complexity or warmth that I remember from 15 years ago.I initially tried this neat and the nose was smokey with a sweetness not unlike peat, a little bit of water allowed the chocolate and coffee through as well as hints of ginger and orange with the smoke more in the background. Nose Zesty wafts of fresh lemon peel and candied orange open things up followed by mint leaves and blossom. Inspired by our history and our island home, our whiskies reflect the unwavering passion and tenacity of the islanders, so it tastes distinctively better because it matters more to those who make it. I too was not sure at first but soon realised that this has a lot to offer in terms of smell and taste and has a fairly long finish.
