On my award-winning book blog, you can find a range of reviews of YA to Adult books and all the topics in-between. Joss threw me a side-glance between cleaning up each eye with a cotton swab as we walked into the bathroom. And as they continue to grow closer, she must reexamine everything she thought she knew about love—and rethink her own ideas of what Happily Ever After should look like. Now that he’s back in town, Liz will do whatever it takes to get on his radar - and maybe snag him as a prom date - even befriend Wes Bennet. We turned down the west wing, and before I had a chance to even look at her, I saw him walking toward me.

That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis.

Today her braids were all pulled back into a ponytail, but instead of looking messy like when I wore a ponytail, it showed off her cheekbones. This childhood trauma sets off a domino effect that sets off the way she reacts and interacts with other supporting characters in the book. Liz is obsessed with romantic comedies and uses them partly as a coping mechanism to deal with the death of her mom, who was also a huge fan of rom-coms. She imagines her life playing out like one as much so that she even creates soundtracks to go with her experiences. Others view Liz as a bit unconventional, her dress sense and her love of the romantic comedies – Michael only really notices Liz when she dresses differently and seems to mostly still view her as the child in the street who made people perform in plays.

A romantic comedy is quoted at the beginning of each chapter, and characters watch and/or discuss romcoms. But as Liz and Wes scheme to get Liz noticed by Michael so she can have her magical prom moment, she’s shocked to discover that she likes being around Wes.Liz believes her hero cannot be Wes Bennet, her annoying next-door neighbor who has tormented her since childhood. The annoyingly attractive next-door neighbour might seem like a prime candidate for romantic comedy fantasies, but Wes has only been a pain in Liz's butt since they were kids. From our many less-than-pleasant encounters, I knew the narrowing of his eyes meant he was sizing me up, and that we were about to throw down about the most recent annoyance he’d brought upon me. And as they continue to grow closer, she must reexamine everything she thought she knew about love-and rethink her own ideas of what Happily Ever After should look like.
