Measure your current tub, so the new liner fits perfectly and no water gets trapped between the liner and the existing tub. There are a lot more risks involved with having a tub liner but for some reason this information seems to be swept under the rug. When you consider the small difference in cost after installation and the negligible difference in time and mess, it just makes more sense to go the route that gives you more options, more durability, and much greater value.
Fortunately, when you work with professional tub installers, you can have either of these options installed and ready to use in as little as one or two days. The average bathtub can last twenty years, but the wear and tear of daily life usually take a toll much earlier than that. That’s because the outside of the tub is usually noticeably different from the standard five- to six-foot bathtub. A liner for your tub consists of sheets of PVC plastic or acrylic which are molded to the shape of a tub, placed over your existing tub, and then glued down to cover it up. The potential problems that will come from improper installation outweigh any potential savings you’ll realize from handling it on your own.Internal measurements like contoured shapes, neck and arm rests and soakers can be hard to match with a bathtub liner. There is minimal downtime because bathtub liner installation is a less time-consuming process than a tub replacement.
