I had read some cosy mysteries previously from Jackie Kabler, and enjoyed them, but this has really stepped up a gear and is a full blown psychological drama - it crept under my skin, and may continue to cling onto me for a while after finishing it. Some are tiny and inconsequential and some have major consequences and can affect more than just one person. But it helps you gain control of your thoughts and to move from negative thoughts to balanced thinking. I think it would be better to read this book rather than listen to it as the narrating is irritating. Google for charities and help lines that help young people (if you are in the UK Childline is excellent).

And now that I'm aware of the speed of the story, that will make a difference second time round I think.Since listening to a certain podcast recommended by my husband, I have found myself obsessed with the first sentence/paragraph of a book. I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys intriguing psychological thriller that keep you guessing. Gripped from the very first page, you are left guessing what has actually happened for quite a while and when you do, you are so torn between your emotions and working out which characters you like and which you really don’t like and who can be trusted. Am I Guilty By Jackie Kabler is definitely one of my top reads of 2019 and if you are a fan of thrillers then this book SHOULD be on your reading list. My absolute dread in reading psychological domestic fiction is that nine times out of ten- and I do keep a count now- some sicko just has to mutilate and kill a cat!
