Everyone has secrets, but these are relationship-killing, job-losing, possible-jailtime kinds of secrets. No wonder that this leads to a contestant disappearing, because some secrets are too dark to be revealed.

While I do tend to prefer my books have a faster pace, this one did have nice even pacing that I appreciated and I had time to savor the details so it worked. Let's not forget how, from the moment I read the first DC Morgan book, I fell in love with Cwm Coed, a small fishing town nestled between Wales and England. MacKintosh weet goede verhalen uit te brengen en ook met Het leugenspel heeft ze weer een goed verhaal op de markt gebracht, hoewel ik het 1e deel denk ik toch nog net wat beter vond.I also found the storyline if the relationship between Ffion and Leo rather tiring and trying, and I swiped right through pages and passages after the fifty percent mark to reach the ending quickly. The focus on the investigation turns it into an enigmatic murder case with many motives but no suspects. Detective Ffion Morgan has to put aside what she's watched on screen, and find out who these people really are - knowing she can't trust any of them.
