Description

It has six core functions that ensure you have the correct tool when you need it, these include a floor/wall-point scanner, scale roller/converter, laser measure, curve scanner, protractor and level.

Protractor – This mode allows measurement of an angle based on movement of the rotating wheel using the laser as a reference point. First, you are using the rolling wheel to take the measurement, which is very inaccurate since you are eye-balling the starting and ending points. By selecting the unit label on the main screen (“Inch” in this case), a dropdown menu appears that allows changing units (middle screenshot above). We tried again and somehow ended up with four doors on the floorplan, so this is a function that will need practice.

The MEAZOR 6-in-1 Laser Measure tool has a very stylish look with an aluminum housing and a glass touchscreen on the front used to choose the measurement mode and change settings. If you're measuring a blueprint rather than a physical object, you can set the scale, and either way you're more likely to get a precise measurement than if you were reading off a ruler or tape measure. I found this measurement to be somewhat inaccurate, mostly because any movement of the MEAZOR from its starting location will affect the measurement. Still, the promise of smart devices is that the software can be updated to improve them, and it wouldn't be hard to make the user interface and functionality much easier to use.If you want to create a floorplan, or just work out the length of a piece of wood you need for a new shelf, a laser measuring tool should be a lot handier than a tape measure. Laser Measure – This is the basic mode that uses the laser to take a single real-time distance measurement.

Most modes allow changing the units and the reference point on the tool right from the measurement screen. Some of these settings are very useful, like picking whether you want to measure from the front, back, middle or stand of the Meazor. I really liked the option on the Bosch GLM to turn off the laser at any time, of course that was more important since that tool doesn’t have rechargeable batteries. You can tilt it to reach the corners if there's furniture in the way, and if you have to move it to reach all of them you can align the Meazor to its new location by rescanning a couple of the corners you've already measured – or so the manual claims. And it's offering some kind of 3D features - sounds like it's identified the wrong product or firmware - I declined, as it seems like an opportunity to brick the thing. The one other benefit of this mode is that it uses the rolling wheel to take the measurement, so if you set the scaling ratio to 1:1, then it will just report the length based on how far you rolled the device. Scales – Allows selecting one of four types of scale options; US-ARCH, US-ENG, METRIC-ARCH, and METRIC-ENG. Bosch is the gold standard when it comes to small laser measuring devices, so I am interested to see how the MEAZOR “measures up” to the Bosch (pun intended). This is a huge drawback to most of us in the United States who would rarely use decimal inches or feet.
