Description

To make every one a true filmmaker of their daily lives, ZHIYUN brings a new handheld stabilizer designed for multiple devices for users of all levels. This involves a rather fiddly process of sliding the gimbal’s three arms back and forth until the device is roughly balanced. Mine actually came off when I carried the gimbal in a backpack, so either leave the gimbal in the case when travelling or take it off and keep it separately in a box or pouch. The M2 can also carry lightweight action cameras but with the latest generation of in-camera stabilization this combination doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense, at least the results don’t look any better with the camera mounted on the gimbal compared to when filming hand-held. We are the main distributor of many notable brands like Viltrox, Godox, TTArtisan, Zhiyun, 7Artisans and Zeapon etc.

For the life of me I can't get the computer to to connect with the gimbal despite downloading their USB cable support files, etc. This was my first mistake, when I thought I would just learn it on the go, but looking back, I would recommend thoroughly reviewing each mode first. If you’re using a regular camera with the Zhiyun Crane-M2 you’ll be able to bypass the app for everything except for firmware updates, since the main shooting modes and functions can be accessed directly using the gimbal’s own controls. One of the best improvements over the original Crane-M is the mounting plate which can slide to the left or right to balance and mount the camera precisely. Credit is provided by Novuna Personal Finance, a trading style of Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Then you hit continue and, finally, go back to “smartphone mode”, select Motion Timelapse mode again and tap Start. Although I had previously used gimbals before when assisting on a shoot, I had never actually taken a brand-new one out of the box and blindly followed the included instructions from the get-go. As noted, before you purchase it, make sure you have thoroughly checked if your camera and lens combination will be supported by the gimbal. It took me lots of tapping and swiping around to actually find the Crane-M2 in the app’s labyrinthine menus.

It’s packed with creative features and is flexible enough to stabilise not just lightweight action cameras and smartphones but larger mirrorless cameras as well. Although I did not have the best start when trying to stabilize my camera or when trying to connect it to Wi-Fi, I'd be happy to put that experience past me, because this gimbal could be a really useful piece of equipment so as long as it fits your style of shooting and more importantly, it fits with your camera. There are others, too, including slow motion and panorama modes plus the ability to control the motion of the gimbal remotely from your phone’s touchscreen, if you have a mirrorless camera or action camera mounted – handy for reframing if you don’t fancy getting up from your chair continuously. First of all, before you go out shooting, you need to understand what each mode does and which one to use.As someone who'd be using only one mirrorless camera for the time being, which also happens to not have the full compatibility with all features this gimbal offers, I am slightly torn; however, if I owned one of the other cameras on the list, I wouldn't hesitate. The Crane-M2 offers full-range POV mode, which allows for 360° synchronous movement on all three axes. Secondly, changing the modes can be confusing too, because you don't simply run through each mode by pressing one button.

We've been using a full production version of this 120 fps sports camera, to see what you gain (and, perhaps, lose). Bluetooth connectivity allows you to capture footage and zoom in and out using the controls on the gimbal’s handle. All this is packed into a high-density foam carry case that protects the gimbal and its accessories from damage during transport. In any mode, you can triple-tap the trigger button to swivel the gimbal 180-degrees and pop it into vlogging (selfie) mode. CRANE-M2 features a unique locking pin and latch design to prevent the axes from swinging around during travel. The M2 S packs all the great features of the M2 and adds even more functionality, including a higher payload, longer runtime, PD fast charging, a smaller handgrip, stylish two-tone design, Bluetooth 5 support, a redesigned quick-release camera plate, and a built-in LED light. If you are relatively unfamiliar with filming equipment, as I am, ZHIYIN's Crane M2 handheld stabilizer looks very promising at the first glance.
